Gadolinite-(Y)
Iveland, Setesdal, Southern Norway
Miniature, 3.5 x 3.3 x 2.5 cm
Ex. Al Ordway
SOLD
This specimen is one of the few RELATIVELY attractive examples of this species I have seen, and has such sharp form and shape to it, that I have to admit I didn't at first guess its identity til I saw the label. Al Ordway traded this in 1978 from the Oslo Museum, so we are confident in its identity (and this is recorded on his label). The crystal is 3 cm tall, SHARP, and complete around the totally freestading termination. It should be considered a sexy goddess among gadolinites, compared to the generally brown and earthy examples I have seen otherwise around.
