Sylvanite, Quartz
Cripple Creek, Cripple Creek District, Teller Co., Colorado, USA
Miniature, 4.0 x 3.3 x 2.3 cm
A good representative specimen of the rare Gold Silver Telluride Sylvanite. This piece hosts several small, sharp, highly lustrous, whitish-gold colored, striated, metallic, monoclinic blades on Quartz matrix. The crystals are small (approximately 1-2 mm), but this species is rarely seen for sale on the open market, and is one of the most highly sought after species from this historic Gold mining district. Ex. Richard Kosnar Collection.
