Sphalerite
Elmwood mine, Carthage, Central Tennessee Ba-F-Pb-Zn District, Smith Co., Tennessee, USA
Small Cabinet, 6.8 x 5.1 x 3.3 cm
SOLD
Sphalerite was the whole reason for the Elmwood Mine, as an ore of zinc, and you often see it as the "base" of calcite, dolomite and fluorite specimens from there. Occasionally, the sphalerite itself formed nice crystals, and large ones, as these, which measure up to 2.8 cm across, on sparkly micro dolomite. Ex. George Feist Collection.
