This well-exposed, dramatic ruby measures just over ONE INCH or 2.6 cm tall, and is perched beautifully on marble matrix. It is a very sharp crystal for the locality and has excellent color as well. When backlit, it practically glows with ruby-red light. Such large crystals, freestanding, are relatively rare on matrix and hard to obtain. This one is actually doubly-terminated, but perched in securely. It is about 80% translucent and additionally has a SHARP termination. Waxy luster is what you want here, and you have it.
