Prehnite (Crystals!)
Jeffrey Mine, Asbestos, Quebec, Canada (now closed!)
Miniature, 4.3 x 4.0 x 1.5 cm
SOLD

This outstanding Prehnite specimen is terrific for any locality due to the sharpness and individuality of the stereotypical crystals which is actually quite rare in nature... prehnite seems to want to do everything BUT crystallize decently for us! I have rarely seen such specimens, and this famous and classic locality is now closed so more will not be forthcoming The water-clear crystals have some perfect mirror-like luster on some surfaces, allowing the admirer a view them as if looking down into a clear pool of water. The other surfaces are preferentially coated, which gives the overall specimen nice contrast and balance. If you did not know better, you might easily misidentify this as a topaz!
