Rhodochrosite

Miniature, 3.5 x 2.8 x 1.7 cm

A glowing, jewel-like cluster of cherry-red, glassy, transparent crystals of rhodochrosite from the most desirable glassy pocket find of around 1980. These simply aren't available on the market in any size and quality, today. This pocket produced a smaller number of specimens, all of a uniformly bright and glassy look, just after the famous 1979 pockets with admittedly larger (though darker and not as gemmy) scalenohedhra. Like all such rhodos, or nearly all at least, it has SOME minimal damage. But, it is lost in context and not significant. The sheer sparkliness and brightness of the piece are really breathtaking...This came to me in trade from a German collector who had bought it 15 years or so ago, and STILL not found a better piece in his size and price range to this day 3.5 x 2.8 x 1.7 cm
