An excellent example of this odd "trigonal" twinned habit of rhodochrosite from the Poudrette Quarry at Mt. St-Hilaire, Quebec. This reddish-brown, semi-translucent and complete all around crystal is nearly pristine, with only minimal contacting on the lower right edge. Some of the edges are gemmy and lustrous. This piece was obtained directly from Ernie Schlicter, who collected the pocket in the late 1970s. These specimens of flat rhodochrosite from Mt. St-Hilaire appear to be contact twins. This one would be considered unusually fine and large for the locality.
