Quartz, Sericite, Chlorite Group, Schorl
Cabinet, 10.9 x 9.9 x 7.1 cm
Aracuai (Arassuai), Jequitinhonha Valley, Minas Gerais, Brazil
This is a huge quartz crystal with glass-clear faces that give a window into a scenic "garden" in the interior, consisting of sericite, chlorite and little thin needles of schorl tourmaline. Ex. J.R. Glover Collection. This is spectacular, like a garden inside!!!. The interior looks almost like a mossy hill with new snow on it! These "picture quartzes" from Brazil are really unique and fascinating, but so many of them are polished because the natural faces are not in good shape. This one is both in its natural state, and unusually large!
