A relatively big and beautiful crystal, of this ultimate holy grail of mineral collectors! There is some damage and contact around the sides, yes, but in this case it does not bother me one bit because of two reasons: 1) it displays well from the front and has EXCELLENT gemminess and color; and 2) simply, what this crystal IS....something so rare most of us will never even touch one of quality. It has phenomenal color among the deepest ever found in the species...it REALLY almost glows with it, in fact. The color is unique and it will stand out in your showcase unbelieveably well. This is some 60 years out of the ground. They they have found a trickle of relatively pale crystals since, nothing approaching the quality of these original specimens has been found in over half a century so it seems a relatively safe bet that, with time, they will get only rarer and apprecaite all the more. This piece came to market only recently after being found in the Don Boydston Collection, which had not been seen or heard from since Don went into seclusion in the 1960s. This one weighs 56 carats 3 x 2.9 x 1.2 cm
