Orthoclase, Biotite
Niaslo (Nieosla; Niesolo), Basha Valley (Basha Nala; Basna), Skardu District, Baltistan, Northern Areas, Pakistan
Small Cabinet, 7.0 x 5.4 x 5.4 cm
Sharp, large, lustrous, and translucent, pastel-green orthoclase crystals form a fine specimen from an uncommon Pakistan locality noted for its alpine-type metamorphic rocks. The crystals have textbook orthoclase crystal form. This very fine, alpine-type piece is very nicely accented by the lustrous biotite column on the bottom and dates to small finds 8-10 years ago.
