These orpiments are GEMMY and translucent, with a briliant, almost metallic color to them! Specimens of this quality certainly were not common twenty five years ago when they came out of Peru, and they are seen much less frequently today. Until I saw this piece in person, I literaly had no idea Peruvian orps had gotten so good! Translucent, lustrous, neon orange crystals of orpiment, to 2 cm long, are aesthetically arranged on matrix.
