Mordenite, Stilbite-Ca
Jalgaon District, Maharashtra, India
Cabinet, 11.8 x 9.5 x 8.3 cm
SOLD
Mordenite is one of the rarer members of the zeolite family. It forms fine sprays of radial acicular crystal clusters that look like pin-cushions or snowballs. Here, you see a huge 7-cm "snowball" intergrown with another about half its size. These are beautifully accented by cream-colored stilbites. A dramatic, striking, sizeable and uncommon Indian specimen from the noted mid-west minerals collection of George Feist (he also had a large Indian suite!) .
