Monazite-(Ce)
Siglo Veinte Mine (Siglo XX Mine; Llallagua Mine; Catavi), Llallagua, Rafael Bustillo Province, Potosi Department, Bolivia
Miniature, 3.6 x 3.1 x 1.8 cm
SOLD
Monazite is found in small quantities in Siglo XX. The paragenesis of the mine indicates that Monazite was actually the first in a very long series of phosphates to have formed in the mine. These crystals are exceptionally difficult to obtain in good euhedral crystals, especially on fine Quartz matrix. The largest crystal on this specimen measures 4 mm across, which is not a bad size from this mine, considering the relative obscurity of good specimens in today's market. This specimen has not been analyzed to determine whether it is the cerium- or lanthanum-dominant. 3.6 x 3.1 x 1.8 cm
