Ludwigite is a rare magnesium, iron borate and this rich, old-time specimen is from the Type Locality; Ocna de Fier (Moravica), Banat, Romania. A vein of silvery bright sulfide microcrystals is sandwiched between waxy, black, fibrous ludwigite crystals. Very highly representative of the rare species and Type Locale. Comes with an old, faded, expertly handwritten label. The collection this came out of was a museum stash dating to prior to World War I.
