Ludlamite
Huanuni mine, Huanuni, Dalence Province, Oruro Department, Bolivia
Small Cabinet, 5.2 x 3.7 x 2.6 cm
SOLD
This is a very good specimen of this remarkably rare iron phosphate consisting of wonderful, sharp, lustrous, gemmy, green, layered crystal group forming a "bowtie"-shaped aggregate of Ludlamite associated with Limonite sitting atop Pyrite and Sphalerite matrix. The Ludlamite crystal group measures 13 mm long. There are about 5 localities in the world the produce fine crystallized Ludlamite specimens, and all of them, except for Huanuni are now defunct. There have been no more of these specimens found in the last 6 years from this locality, and it is a possibility there will never be any more.
