Kutnohorite
N'Chwaning II Mine, N'Chwaning Mines, Kuruman, Kalahari manganese fields, Northern Cape Province, South Africa
Cabinet, 11.4 x 9.7 x 6.0 cm
SOLD
This is the most spectacular example of the mineral I have yet seen, featuring several generations of kutnahorite of entirely differnt form, one atop the other. The wavy form is more typical, although seldom seen in such a nice roseate bloom as we have here. The crystallized kutnahorite atop is truly exceptional for the species not just for form, but for sheer richeness and size of the cluster. This is a unique specimen, and leaps out from a showcase. It comes with a custom-made lucite base. It is from the collection of well-known South African dealer Rob Smith, which was purchased last year by Marshall and Charlotte Sussman in its entirety. 11.4 x 9.7 x 6.0 cm
