Henritermierite
N'Chwaning Mines, Kuruman, Kalahari manganese fields, Northern Cape Province, South Africa
Small Cabinet, 7.3 x 4.8 x 2.0 cm
SOLD
A superb specimen of this exceptionally rare and strange Garnet species, Henritermierite, from the best locality for crystals of this variety. Henritermierite is unusual because it is a manganese rich garnet, and of unusual crystal habit (as you can see, clearly pseudo-octahedral crystals in abundance). The Henritermierite grew in large crystals (up to 7mm), all with good luster and a deep red-black color to them. Very sharp, overall. A rich plate like this is exceedingly hard to obtain. Ex. Charlie Key.
