Hauyne is a rare sodalite group mineral, usually forming in phonolites (a lava type) and other silica deficient igneous rocks. This fine specimen is highlighted by a very well placed, 5 mm, sharp, gemmy, sky-blue hauyne crystal in a matrix of sanidine feldspar and augite microcrystals.
