Miniature, 4.7 x 2.9 x 2.1 cm
813 Pit, Olinghouse District, Washoe Co., Nevada, USA

The closeup pic shows why these are called "nest" golds - incredibly intricate puffs of crystalline wire gold. There are two of these balls here, each about 1.2 cm, and all gold. The specimen is made particularly dramatic and aesthetic by how these two puffballs of gold are isolated on the andesite matrix. Ex. Scott Kleine collection.
