Sapphirine With Phlogopite and Scapolite
Androy, Malagasy Republic
Miniature, 5.1 x 3.4 x 3.0 cm
Ex. Martin Zinn
Sapphirine is rarely found in such sharp, nicely formed crystals as from these recent discoveries in Madagascar. This is an exceptional piece that was valued at $1200 to me, in the collection. The major crystal is 2.5 cm long and doubly-terminated. It is sharp and waxy in luster. Smaller crystals are all over the backside. Overall, its not so ugly as you normally would get for the fact, its ALMOST pretty! And I am sure it is a very fine one, but I lowered the price a bit anyhow.
