A stunning ruby specimen with sharp form showing none of the usual rounded nature we often see on Afghani rubies. It almost certainly grew freestanding into a pocket, whereas most others have to be excavated out of enclosing matrix of quartz or calcite. The crystals are translucent, though not bright and gemmy per se. The color is a very deep, classic ruby-red in hue. very SHARP specimen formerly in the thumbnail collection of Roland and Cathy Sherman. 2.5 x 1.3 x 1.1 cm
