Natrochalcite
Chuquicamata, Chile
Small Cabinet, 7.3 x 5.5 x 4.5 cm
Ex. Richard Hauck
SOLD
This is a rare hydrated, hydroxyl, sulfate, of sodium and copper that occurs primarily in arid areas, like Chuquicamata. The emerald green natrochalcite, in translucent crystals to .7 cm across, is color contrasted with its whitish-green matrix. Some crystals are obviously damaged but overall the piece is exceptionally rich and colorful, so you can put up with it at the right price. This is another mineral species that never appears in dealers stocks.
