Spectacular brick-red coloring, caused by cuprite, really enhances the rich patina of this amazing, old-time copper specimen from the well-known Copper Falls Mine of the Keweenaw Peninsula of Michigan. Difficult to describe, this is certainly one of the more unusual Copper Country copper forms, that I have seen. There is also a fair amount of malachite, calcite and quartz encrustations on parts of the specimen, which adds to the character of the piece. Ex. Ernie Schlichter Collection.
