Cavansite
Owyhee Dam, Lake Owyhee State Park, Malheur Co., Oregon, USA
Small Cabinet, 5.3 x 2.4 x 0.7 cm
SOLD
A very rare specimen from the type locality for cavansite. These specimens were found in the early 1960s and have not been found, so far as I know, in decades. This is an attractive plate of beautiful Cavansite crystals with Stilbite and Apophyllite association to make it sparkle. The Cavansites are either in small lustrous balls or in flat radial growths that look like small mineral "flowers." First described in 1973, the Owyhee Dam Cavansites were the be-all and end-all until the great Indian discoveries of the late 1980's continuing through today. Ex. Bill Pinch Collection.
