Butlerite and parabutlerite are very rare hydrated iron sulfates. Lustrous, translucent, orange-brown butlerite and parabutlerite prisms to 2 mm richly cover matrix on this fine example of these rare species. This piece is from the very less well-known Kavir-e-Sagand area of Iran and was collected in the 1970s expeditions by Pierre Bariand of the Sorbonne. Rarely available material, today.
