- Beryl (Var: Aquamarine)
- Haramosh Mts., Skardu District, Baltistan, Northern Areas, Pakistan
- Small Cabinet, 8.9 x 5.4 x 2.7 cm
This is a nearly cabinet-sized, super-impressive large aquamarine specimen, out of the collection of Joel Bartsch. It is transparent, very lustrous, complete, and beautifully terminated, and measures over 8 cm in length. What is nicest, I think, is how it has just the right natural matrix base to set it off perfectly. Other than some truly MICRO edge-wear, hardly worth mentioning since you have to really look for it, it is in superb condition. From the collection of Joel Bartsch, sold off when he became curator of minerals at the Houston Museum in the early 90s. Joel is now president of the Houston Museum.
