A giant 7.5-cm-across crystal stands in the middle of this cluster like a multicapped mountain, with really neat multiple serrated terminations atop. There is no damage at all to the display face, and the terminations wrap around the back side for nice effect and depth, though there is contact at the lower-bottom edge and the left periphery. The overall pyramid-like form is dramatic and really stands out because of the depth of color intensity you get form such a nice, thick, translucent crystal.
An elegant, complete-all-around, stalactite-like cluster of fluorites that is an unlikely survivor among so many larger and heavier pieces to be collected. This piece is topped by a 1.8-cm crystal (1.8 cm on edge, 2.5 cm across diagonal) that is among the most gemmy and transparent crystals here. This is more obvious in person. The piece is 100% totally pristine, and is so sharply crystallized you can cutfingers on the edges. Small flecks of golden pyrite, perhaps 0.25 mm in size, decorate some crystal edges but are internal, included within, on close inspection. These little sparkling golden flecks provide a cute accent. Overall, despite its smaller size than most pieces of this pocket, its one of the more standout pieces and perhaps gram for gram the finest I have (and pricier because of this fact). Comes with custom carved lucite base for display.
The color on this piece is intense and striking, among the deepest color in the lot and yet the crystals are still very translucent despite this intensity and their thickness. This specimen look slike some green alien attack tripod, with a strange composition formed from two elongated, intergrown crystals that support one another like poles on a tent. The left crystal is 13 cm long, the right crystal 11 cm. They merge into one another, forming a composite cluster of the two that is unusual for its geometry as you see. The crystals are complete in front. and sides, contacted (but not cleaved) on the backside. They stand on the custom lucite base on their tiptoes, so to speak.
A stark, dramatic, single large octohedron is here supported at its base by an accenting cluster of smaller crystals. The whole piece is translucent to transparent. In person, the crystals have a better lustre and more color than is easily shown in the photos.Pristine on the display face though cleaved in back (not visible from the front, in any case). Comes with custom carved lucite base for display.
A stunning specimen that is all points and angles, very sharp all around. The large crystals reach 6 cm across. The piece is almost entirely translucent throughout - you can see inside to an internal core of a small bit of included matrix, and through most edges entirely. In person, the crystals have a better lustre and more 3-dimensionality than is easily shown in the photos if we are also trying to get color accurate (as I think it is). Comes with custom carved lucite base for display. This is, for the size and price range, one of th emore impressive specimens here. It is extremely high in quality because it is among the most transparent crystals and pristine on the display face.
25 cm across! This is a VERY large plate, with deeper green color and an unusual secondary "frosting" of drusy fluorite atop the underlaying large octohedra. It weighs nearly 14 pounds. This is a large, impactful specimen that is miraculously in good condition despite its size and the remoteness of this area. Comes with custom carved lucite base for display. Comes with custom lucite display base, included.
This specimen, first off, is REALLY MUCH MORE impressive in person. It is a complex piece with many features to it that are hard to convey - all I can say is you can look at it for a long while counting how the heck these diverse fluorite forms formed (in 2-3 generations of growth!). This specimen has among the deepest color of the entire lot, in a whopping 6 cm GEMMY crystal on top of the right side. In the lower-center spot, it features a VERY STRANGE 3.7-cm-long "bar" of fluorite that is either some weird twin or a weird concatenated crystal of 2 adjoining octohedra. This "bar" is perched below a third major featured crystal habit: a 3.5-cm gem octohedron that looks like almost triangular in form it is so compressed on one axis yet equant on the others. The two large octos are free of secondary coating but on the crevasses between, and on the "bar" , there is a secondary coating of minutely crystallized fluorite that sprinkles over some faces like sparkling sugar, adding lustre and accent to the specimen. Lastly,a thin ridge of translucent tiny fluorite crystals, piled one upon the other and measuring to 6 mm, runs like a wave spray in front of the largest octo, framing it separately from the rest of the specimen and giving the whole piece a more 3-dimensional look as well as yet more sparkle (since they are so bright and gemmy!). The pics just cannot convey all this easily - so trust me on this one, if you are tempted, its all the more a stunning specimen in person. It is complex, riveting in color, and jus tlike no other of this lot I have yet seen.
A dramatic speicmen showcasing a superb symmetry, with a large central octohedron framed so nicely on the specimen. In person it has almost a silky lustre and a good gemminess to it that together comes through in the photos as simply dull and matte compared to the real thing! This specimen is intense green, sharply geometric, and pristine/complete all around. Comes with custom carved lucite base for display.
This style was very rare from the find, and highly valued (I have seen some comparable pieces priced in the several tens of thousands of dollars range!) for the aesthetic appearance of more isolation and association with crystallized quartz. These darker crystals have a matte lustre that contrasts markedly with the quartz. They are translucent, and glow when backlit. The largest octohedron here reaches 3 cm across. Comes with custom carved lucite base for display.
From Namibia now...Only a handful of these so-called "alien-fluorites" came out of the ground, sometime starting last april and extending to another pocket found just before September I am told. However, very few large crystal specimens showed so nicely and in such size as this one, with 3 "alien" phantom faces able to show off at the same time. I had many I sold at the Denver and Munich show already, saving back this one for the web to get a shot, though. It is one of the most impactful fluorite crystals I have ever seen for sheer bizarreness. The color , pattern, and geometry combine to create a startling overall appearance. This crystal is nearly pristine (a few minor dings of no consequence) and is technically complete all around as the back shows a contact/attachment point and no breaks per se. Comes with custom carved lucite base for display. This piece was photographed for show reports.
A GIANT specimen with impact, for both color and size. It weighs nearly 17 pounds. The color, because of the clarity and yet the thickness combined, is strong and deep even despite the clarity of the crystals , because of the depth through which the color can accumulate to your eyes. This piece is pristine on the display face. These photos simply canot do it justice. Comes with custom carved lucite base for display.
A "tower of power" of stacked crystals, of the highest quality for lustre, translucency, and color for the find. The crystals are complete all around and so this cluster has incredible elegant geometry! The piece is entirely translucent and shows beautifully in a case from all sides. While not the most expensive (due to smaller size than some giants here and one very small cleave, hard to see, on the back of the top crystal), it is one of my favorites for overall quality and display aesthetics. Comes with custom carved lucite base for display.
A sharp cluster of transparent octohedra to 3.3 cm across, this specimen features a lot of sharp points and green color for the price because of one contact/break on the lower portion of the specimen (facing viewer - its not easy to see, as I said!) that really does not detract so much visually , but admittedly does affect the price. Otherwise, this is pristine on the front display face and shows octohedra of as much quality as you could want. Comes with custom carved lucite base for display.
One of my favorites, this piece balances size and geometry overall to make for a handsized specimen with a lot of visual impact. The piece is mostly the one single central crystal which is among the most translucent in this lot (more so in person). Its overall form is accented by multistepped terminations and adjacent smaller crystals off each side. In person, this piece really "leaps" out from its base, as it is so sharp and equant.
A crowning wreath of SHARP, transparent green octohedra to 5 cm across dominates this large matrix specimen. It has some peripheral contact obviously around the rim near the bottom but otherwise the piece is complete and the crystals actually wrap around the top ridge and down the back side so it is overall extremely dramatic, showy, and intense for displaying COLOR. The pics don't do it justice. Comes with custom carved lucite base for display.
