D10-75 - Wavellite - $ 450 High Down Quarry, Filleigh, Barnstable, Devonshire, England (TYPE LOCALITY) small cabinet, 6 x 5.2 x 3.8 cm
Wavellite is a beautiful species tending to form radial aggregates, as you see here - but most people probably think it was found in Arkansas, where it is most common today. This specimen is from the TYPE LOCALITY in England, which dates back to 1805. It features pastel green ball-shaped clusters of radial wavellite crystals, to just over 1 cm in size. It is a rich, attractive, display quality specimen
J11-19 - Wavellite - $ 7500 SOLD de Linde Pits, Dug Hill, Avant, Garland Co., Arkansas large cabinet, 24.2 x 17.5 x 11 cm
The old Avant quarry has recently been reworked with more robust equipment, and a backhoe was brought in to access a deposit at 25 foot depth that had not been mined before except by sampling. Shockingly deep green wavellite was found, much of it in small, closely packed seams. We will have an update of the remaining material later. With its bright and sparkling lustre atop, this rolling velvety mat of botryoidal wavellite in a 3-dimensional crevasse is the largest fine specimen of this quality that was recovered in 3 months of mining (during summer of 2010). It is dramatic, huge, and really singificant both for the locality and for the species, as an American classic. I am not aware of old material from the glory days here (1960s and prior), collected at shallower depth, that matched this color intensity. Joe Budd photos
J11-28 - Wavellite - $ 1800 SOLD old de Linde Pits, Dug Hill, Avant, Garland Co., Arkansas, USA small cabinet, 6.2 x 5.2 x 3.8 cm ex. Al Ordway
Rarely do you get isolated, large ballshaped wavellites like this, in excellent quality. They came out of the Avant Quarry area in the 1950s-1960s. This is a well-trimmed specimen with a 1-inch ball on matrix, and a few smaller ones in association. It is extremely aesthetic, without the usual broken bits that often accompany or are attached to such larger clusters. ex Al Ordway Collection. Joe Budd photos
JWHITE-27 - Wavellite - $ 200 Slate Mountain, near Placerville, El Dorado County, California, USA miniature, 5.0 x 3.9 x 3.6 cm ex. John White
Wavellite from this locality has a rich, unique, sparkling green color to it that is very distinct from Arkansas material. It is more lush and vivid, I would say. These specimens are VERY RARE on the market, and I am told were collected only sparsely, some 20-30 years ago now. I have only ever seen a half dozen specimens for sale of this material.

MD-113681 - Wavellite - - Archived Saline Co., Arkansas, USA miniature, 4.1 x 3.3 x 3.0 cm.
4.1 x 3.3 x 3.0 cm. From the recent small find in Arkansas - the familiar botryoidal Arkansas wavellite, but in a brand new color, bright yellow! This one has particularly bright lemony color. Wavellites of this color are obviously quite unique.
MD-118557 - Wavellite - - Archived Saline Co., Arkansas, USA small cabinet, 5.3 x 4.6 x 2.9 cm.
5.3 x 4.6 x 2.9 cm. The locality is familiar (for wavellite), but the COLOR is not! This is a specimen of YELLOW wavellite from a small recent find in Arkansas. The botryoidal form with radial crystals forming the balls is typical, but this is brand new in terms of color, certainly not your typical pea-green - and therefore a very unique find for the species!
MD-120497 - Wavellite - - Archived Mauldin Mt., Montgomery Co., Arkansas, USA miniature, 3.6 x 3.4 x 2.1 cm.
3.6 x 3.4 x 2.1 cm. Balls of bright, pea-green wavellite, all COMPLETE AND UNDAMAGED (which is unusual), isolated on matrix - measuring to 0.6 cm - from the best worldwide locality for these.
MD-120520 - Wavellite - - Archived Saline Co., Arkansas, USA small cabinet, 5.6 x 3.9 x 3.4 cm.
5.6 x 3.9 x 3.4 cm. Familiar in style, but not at all in color -- a specimen from the recent find of YELLOW wavellite from Arkansas (the prime wavellite locality). This is basically the side of a shallow pocket, covered with botryoidal wavellite.

5.9 x 4.0 x 3.4 cm. From the small find last year of YELLOW wavellite, with the typical botryoidal forms made up of radial internal crystals, but of a brand new color. Arkansas remains the prime worldwide locality for wavellite.
MD-132292 - Wavellite - - Archived Saline Co., Arkansas, USA miniature, 4.5 x 4.2 x 3.6 cm.
4.5 x 4.2 x 3.6 cm. The best specimen we have from the recent find of YELLOW wavellite - just like the well-known green ones from Arkansas, with the same botryoidal form and radial crystal structure, but in a brand new color! We have seen no more of these specimens. This is a fine, rich one!
MD-137948 - Wavellite - - Archived Saline Co., Arkansas, USA small cabinet, 5.7 x 4.9 x 3.5 cm.
5.7 x 4.9 x 3.5 cm. A fine example of YELLOW wavellite from the recent find in Arkansas – featuring the familiar botryoidal form with fibrous, radial crystals forming the balls – but in a very rare color for any locality that is only occasionally found here! This is one of the larger specimens of quality from a find of this past summer.
MD-140490 - Wavellite - - Archived Saline Co., Arkansas, USA miniature, 3.7 x 3.4 x 1.9 cm.
3.7 x 3.4 x 1.9 cm. From a small find early this year of rare YELLOW wavellite in Arkansas. It has the same form (balls consisting of radial crystals) as most Arkansas wavellites, but this unique canary-yellow color!
