3.1 x 0.6 x 0.5 cm. This cluster of glassy and gemmy, blue-green vivianite crystals is composed of crystals that are all doubly terminated. Superb, large, and fairly significant thumbnail from this rare US phosphate locality.
1.6 x 0.6 x 0.3 cm. A dab of matrix is the host for a crystal of lustrous and translucent, blue-green vivianite.
2.3 x 1.4 x 1.2 cm. Aesthetically perched on matrix, is a single crystal, 1.4 cm across, of glassy and gemmy, blue-green vivianite. The crystal is also doubly terminated. I particularly like the way the main termination fills a vug in the matrix.
2.4 x 1.9 x 0.8 cm. A crystal of glassy and gemmy, blue green, vivianite measuring 2.0 cm in length, is perched on matrix.
2.1 x 2.0 x 2.0 cm. This is an unusual and striking form for vivianite, sort of like a hedgehog all tucked in on itself. The specimen consists of radiating, intergrown, green blades that form a near-spherical aggregate. Good color, lustre, and very interesting form make this a superb rare locality thumbnail. Ex. Dick Jones Collection.
4.2 x 1.6 x 0.9 cm. Here is a fine old locality specimen of Vivianite from Bolivia. Subscribers to the Mineralogical Record probably have read the issue that was dedicated to this unique and historic locality. This miniature size piece features a beautiful, gemmy, doubly-terminated, emerald green color, prismatic crystal of Vivianite with matte luster associated with botryoidal Limonite. This material is rarely seen today and this particular specimen is at least 25 years old. A beautiful classic Vivianite from one of the premier Bolivian mines.
9.1 x 5.7 x 3.8 cm. This small cabinet size piece features a few absolutely beautiful, lustrous, gem quality, emerald green, sword-shaped "textbook" crystals of Vivianite with reddish-brown metamorphosed Sandstone.
4.3 x 3.8 x 2.6 cm. This mine has produced some of the finest quality Vivianite specimens ever seen. This miniature size piece features a beautiful, lustrous, gem quality, emerald-green, sword-shaped "textbook" crystal of Vivianite with minor reddish-brown metamorphosed Sandstone.
5.3 x 3.5 x 1.0 cm. Vivanite from Huanuni has become increasingly difficult to obtain these days, since the miners have little opportunity to "liberate" specimens for collectors. The phosphate zone at Huanuni hasn't produced much for about 10 years. This particular specimen came out of Haununi in the early 1980's. The specimen comprises fine, sharp, lustrous, deep green color, prismatic crystals in a "fan"-shape. Ex. Brian Kosnar Collection.
4.5 x 3.6 x 3.6 cm. This miniature-sized piece features a 4.6 cm, lustrous, gem quality, emerald-green vivianite crystal set on a matrix of reddish-brown metamorphosed sandstone. Found 2003-2004, mostly.
A very gemmy and desirable dark-green vivianite crystal with an unusual notched purple termination from the classic United States vivianite locality, the Blackbird District of Idaho. Purple color is indicative of this locality, closed since the 1960s. Old and choice material. Ex Carlton Davis Collection. 4.9 x 1.2 x 0.5 cm
4.0 x 3.1 x 2.8 cm. Here is a fine, old-time locality specimen of Vivianite from Bolivia. This piece features a beautiful, semi-lustrous, relatively sharp, gemmy, emerald-green color, prismatic crystal of Vivianite measuring 3.1 cm associated with Limonite replacing botryoidal Wavellite. This particular specimen is at least 25 years old.
10.3 x 8.2 x 5.5 cm. This cabinet size piece features a beautiful, lustrous, gem-quality, emerald-green, sword-shaped "textbook" crystal of Vivianite on reddish-brown metamorphosed Sandstone. The Vivianite crystal measures 1.6 cm long.
4.1 x 3.5 x 1.5 cm. The mine at Huanuni has produced some of the finest Vivianite specimens in the world. This crystal group hosts several gemmy blue-green, sharp, somewhat lustrous crystals. The largest Vivianite crystal measures 1.5 cm long. This is from a find from about 9 years ago, when there was a bonanza at Huanuni for Vivianites. Shortly after, there were no more specimens, and there truly hasn’t been much since.
8.8 x 4.5 x 3.7 cm. This small cabinet size piece features a pair beautiful, lustrous, gem quality, emerald-green, sword-shaped "textbook" crystals of Vivianite measuring up to 3.0 cm on metamorphosed Sandstone.
