A beautiful and pristine miniature of gemmy and lustrous green vivianite blades with a bit of matrix from the recent find in Bolivia. The backlit photo highlights the gemmyness and green color of the vivianite blades. These are the best vivianites to be found in a decade! Grab them now while available on the market. 3.7 x 1.5 x 1.2 cm

Vivianite from Siglo Veinte Mine (Siglo XX Mine; Llallagua Mine; Catavi), Llallagua, Rafael Bustillo Province, Potosí Department, Bolivia [db_pics/mdpics/MD-271442a.jpg]

9.0 x 6.2 x 5.7 cm. Here is a great old-time locality specimen of Vivianite from Bolivia. Subscribers to the Mineralogical Record know that an entire issue was dedicated to this unique and historic locality. This piece features a group of beautiful, relatively sharp, gemmy, emerald-green, prismatic crystals of Vivianite measuring up to 5.2 cm associated with Limonite replacing botryoidal Wavellite on Pyrite matrix. This material is rarely seen in today's market and this particular specimen is at least 25 years old. A beautiful, classic specimen of his well known Bolivian species.

9.8 x 4.5 x 2.7 cm. This small cabinet size piece features an absolutely beautiful, good quality, highly lustrous, gemmy, emerald-green, doubly-terminated, sword-shaped "textbook" crystal of Vivianite on sandstone. This piece is fine condition, and is one of the gemmiest larger crystals I've seen from the find.

5.4 x 4.0 x 3.7 cm. Here is a great old locality specimen of Vivianite from Bolivia. Subscribers to the Mineralogical Record probably have read the issue that was dedicated to this unique and historic locality. This piece features a beautiful, gemmy, emerald-green, prismatic crystal of Vivianite with matte luster associated with botryoidal Limonite (after Wavellite) on matrix. This material is rarely seen in today's market and this particular specimen is at least 25 years old. A beautiful classic Vivianite from one of the premier Bolivian mines.

Vivianite from Morococala Mine, Santa Fé Mining District, Dalence Province, Oruro Department, Bolivia [db_pics/mdpics/MD-280371a.jpg]

15.2 x 12.5 x 6.0 cm. This specimen has two crossing crystal clusters forming an X shape. The frontal composite-crystal is 14 x 7 x 4 cm in size. The back crystal is doubly-terminated, elegant and thinner, but gemmier; also with a deep green color when backlit strongly. The lustre is fantastic, like glass, on all front faces. The piece is complete-all-around and pristine, save only one small contact at the lower tip of the front of the specimen. The mass is 850 grams. Vivanite from the 1980s finds here still sets the standard for sheer size and impact, for the species. True, other locales and styles are more gemmy or elegant, but no other finds present the sheer mass of vivianite, and these huge, frontal, lustrous faces. They remain classics, no seldom seen on the market. This particular specimen is a piece from those classic days, that I have known about for a decade or so, after it turned up again in the late 1990s in the Freilich collection which was exhibited in Tucson at 2000 show. When that noted collection was broken up for sale, at auction in 2001, this was item #253 in the Sotheby's catalogue for the collection. It sold at auction, and then ended up by 2003 in the Ed David collection, in New Jersey, and now has his #54C attached.

5.3 x 2.7 x 1.5 cm. This piece features absolutely beautiful, lustrous, gem quality, emerald-green, sword-shaped "textbook" crystals of Vivianite with minor metamorphosed Sandstone. The most interesting aspect to this piece is the Vivianite crystals are slightly twisted/curved, giving them a very unique appearance. A super overall Vivianite specimen from this now well known discovery.

Okay, from an aesthetic standpoint it is no match for a Bolivian vivianite, but it is about a thousand times rare, so you have to give this specimen credit! An oblong crystal of an opaque, very dark green with some wear on it, but good for the locality; you just don’t see many around. It is not QUITE so ugly in person. 5.2 x 1.5 x 1.4 cm

This is an unusual and striking form for the mineral, sort of like a hedgehog all tucked in on itself. The specimen consists of radiating intergrown green blades that form a near-spherical conglomerate. Good color, luster, and very interesting form add to the desirability of this rare locality thumb. 2.2 x 2.2 x 2 cm

A very sharp, lustrous crystal, complete and terminated all around, and quite transparent, of the classic bottle-green, with matrix attachments. Though it is a thick crystal, it is so clear that you can see through it (the pics do not show this transparency clearly). 4.1 x 3.5 x 3.1 cm

An excellent, undamaged cluster of lustrous, thick, green vivianite blades on a bit of matrix from the famous Siglo XX Mine at Llallagua, Bolivia. Ex Ed Ruggiero Collection, who purchased this piece in 1976 in Austin, Texas from Tom McKee. This is superb for the mine. 4.0 x 4.0 x 3.3 cm

Something you just do NOT see on the market – these two specimens of Virginia blue-green vivianite came out of an old collection. This is the larger of the two. While they are no match is aesthetics for a Bolivian vivianite, they are infinitely more rare! 6.0 x 2.6 x 1.7 cm
