An elegant cluster of deep wine-red Vesuvianite from new finds in Pakistan! Nice! 3.3 x 2 x 1 cm
A big, fat, nearly square crystal of light olive vesuvianite, terminated, and measuring around 2 cm in each direction. It is attached to a smaller crystal (also terminated). For what it is….a very good piece! 3.7 x 2.5 x 2.5 cm
A plate of vesuvianite crystals nicely balanced between lavender and green. There are some damaged crystals, but with all the luster and flash, you do not really notice them. The Jeffrey is now CLOSED - this came from a stash we bought at Tucson that was purchase from high-graders going "unofficially" into the mine. 6.0 x 4.2 x 1.7 cm
This is definitely an old timer. Opaque, but highly lustrous vesuvianite crystals to 4 cm which have an eye pleasing yellow-green color are topped by an opaque, but glassy, dark gray grossular crystal to 1.5 cm. HUGE CRYSTAL FOR THE LOCALITY! 5.5 x 4.5 x 2.5 cm
This is a beautiful combination of rich reddish, extremely large crystals of Vesuvianites sprinkled with many tiny gemmy garnets (hessonite) that form a glittering background to the upright Vesuvianite crystal. The Vesuvianites have excellent luster and classic vertical striations, as well as very fine and full terminations. The aesthetics of this piece are truly amazing and it is a world class example of htis Italian classic. It really should be a miniature, if smallish perhaps. BUT, if put in a box diagonally, it can fit in a TN box. This is one of the finest such crystals I have seen for sale and is surely old. 3 x 1.7 x 1.5 cm
Vesuvianite crystals with deep green color, excellent crystal form with sharp edges and striated sides, and shiny luster. 2.8 x 1.9 x 1.6 cm
A very large, lustrous and gemmy, 1.7 cm, yellow-green vesuvianite crystal nicely nestled in lustrous, colorless calcite from the recent find in Kenya. 5.1 x 5.0 x 3.3 cm
A classic, old-time specimen of gemmy and lustrous, brown vesuvianite crystals to 6 mm lining a vug in basalt matrix from the Type Locality in Italy. 6.2 x 5.8 x 5.2 cm
Shockingly vivid, deep green vesuvianite crystals to 3 cm cover the front display face of this massive grossular matrix from the Jeffrey Mine (now closed). I have never seen such a large and richly covered specimen of thi smaterial - it is extremely rare in any case and usually all you can get is a thumbnail with 1 cm crystal IF you are lucky. This is a monster, both for size of crystals and for size of the piece. The lustre is like glass, the highest possible in a Canadian vesuvianite I would say. The color is so incredible in person you will not believe its a vesuvianite. The deep rich green hue is due to, I am told, being infused with excess chromium during growth. 7 x 3.4 x 2.4 cm
A cluster richly covered with lustrous crystals to 1.5 cm, with a fine balance of green and purple tones. Superb luster! The Jeffrey is now CLOSED, and there has been a rapid disappearance of good vesuvianites from the market! 5.5 x 3.4 x 2.6 cm
A limestone matrix and millimeter-size epidote form the substrate for a row of colorless, translucent, calcite crystals, the largest of which is 1.0 cm across. Aesthetically, nestled along side the calcite is a cluster of extremely lustrous, barrel-shaped prismatic, translucent red vesuvianite crystals. The largest reaches 1.0 cm across. The total effect, including the color contrast, is mesmerizing. IT IS MUCH BETTER IN PERSON and this is one of the better specimens I have sen far seen from new finds in Pakistan. 6.6 x 3.1 x 2.9 cm
CLASSIC, OLD-TIME material of turquoise-blue vesuvianite (idocrase) in lustrous, milky white to gray quartz from the well-known Telemark area of Norway. Ex Richard Hauck Collection. 7.6 x 6.1 x 4.1 cm
A CLASSIC, OLD-TIME specimen of glassy and gemmy, clove-brown to olive-brown vesuvianite crystals to 1.8 cm on matrix from the famous Ala Valley of Italy. The accompanying label says that the piece was collected in the late 1940s. The scattered damage is certainly not too detracting from this classic Italian piece. Ex Richard Hauck Collection. 5.8 x 5.5 x 5.5 cm
The mining of these classics ended around a year ago, and you can tell, because they''re just not around on the market anymore - people are buying them all up. This specimen has gemmy light green crystals to 1.3 cm covering its surface, with hints of lavender. 6.4 x 4.2 x 3.0 cm
A large and very rich specimen of vesuvianite - basically a large cluster of compound crystals showing highly lustrous faces, measuring up to 2.5 cm! The Jeffrey Mine is closed now, and there has been a rush to grab specimens on the market. This is from a stash we put away. It has the purple and green tones that are distinctive for this locality. 4.9 x 3.6 x 3.6 cm
