RARE08-2-94 - Vayrynenite - $ 3000 Paprok, Nuristan, Kunar Province, Afghanistan thumbnail, 1.7 x 1.4 x 0.6 cm
A rather large, unusually robust crystal of this highly desirable, and very rare species which seems to be trickling out of Afghanistan a few per year. i have now and have seen a few thumbnail shards, 8-9mm, rough edges, for $2000. Its a rare thing as you know and the prices in Afghanistan are as if they were rubies, all sold by weight! This is one of the fattest crystals I have seen, even though I have seen some smaller, gemmier ones. I thin, thus, it has a pretty good significance for the price.
