Variscite - Itumbiara, Goias, Brazil

A very nice 8mm ball-shaped cluster of crystals, deep green and lustrous. This is a vast improvement over the normal massive habit for the species and this small find in Brumado has produced what many folks consider best-of-species. THis particular piece has a fairly large ball (though not the biggest), but what really makes it is the top-percentile DEEP GREEN color and lustre, which is highly unusual and marks this as being among the top pieces.

7.5 x 5.9 x 1.0 cm. A beautiful specimen of chrysoprase-colored, emerald-green variscite rimmed by and included by streaks of canary-yellow crandallite. There is some gray wardite present is well. This is a rare association, and the contrast is striking. Note that this is, as most such specimens are after being sliced out of a boulder, polished. OLD MATERIAL from the early and mid 1900s finds, here.

5.9 x 4.3 x 3.7 cm. Unusual piece with complete nodules of variscite, IN MATRIX! You almost only ever see them cut up and sliced, and in any case not with matrix. Cannot say as I have had one like this before. It’s not the best color to be sure, but it IS a rare matrix piece and thus highly illustrative. Ex. Charlie Key Collection.

6.5 x 4.6 x 3.6 cm. Variscite is RARE in pegmatite deposits.
