13.0 x 9.5 x 2.5 cm. An impressive, sculptural cabinet specimen of vanadinite from Mibladene, Morocco. Highly lustrous, hexagonal, brick-red prisms to 1.3 cm cover the upper half of the specimen. Very interestingly, the crystals gradationally get smaller toward the bottom and have a brownish tint. A very highly representative, large specimen of the species and locale.
4.5 x 3.2x 2.7 cm. A fine Mibladen miniature vanadinite specimen from the finds 8-10 years ago. This pristine, two-sided piece consists of highly lustrous, brick-red, hexagonal, blocky vanadinite prisms, many with gemmy flashes of yellow and orange. The cresting, skyline crystal is 7 mm across. There are flattened, tabular crystals and even a couple of curtain-like crystals, up to 1.3 cm long.
3.1 x 2.8 x 2.7 cm. A fine Mibladen miniature vanadinite specimen from the finds 8-10 years ago. This mounded, multi-sided specimen consists of highly lustrous, brick-red, hexagonal, blocky vanadinite prisms, many with gemmy flashes of yellow and orange. The cresting, skyline crystal is 9 mm long. The large, 2.8 x 2.2 x 1.9 cm, blocky, flattened, basal, crystal has amazing flashes of gemmy fire in the side face.
3.8 x 2.9 x 2.4 cm. Gemmy, glassy, cherry-red vanadinite "cogwheels" in a sculptural, echelon form make for a very fine and aesthetic specimen from finds 8-10 years ago at Mibladen, Morocco. Many of the crystals have gemmy flashes of yellow and orange. Classic material.
8.5 x 7.5 x 3.8 cm. A fine and sculptural specimen festooned with sparkly, gemmy, brick-red vanadinite crystals. The largest, jewel-like vanadinite, at 1.0 cm, is beautifully set at the top of the piece like a crown jewel and also has flashes of yellow-orange fire. Sintered to bladed baryte is the matrix on this excellent, essentially pristine specimen from the finds 8-10 years ago.
5.1 x 3.2 x 2.7 cm. Incredibly gemmy and lustrous, bright cherry-red, tabular vanadinite prisms to 1.0 cm are very aesthetically piled high on the starkly contrasting, bladed, snow-white baryte on this fine specimen from the late 1990s-early 2000s finds at the ACF Mine at Mibladen, Morocco. Ex. Mijer Collection.
7.6 x 5.8 x 3.3 cm. Gemmy and lustrous, dark cherry-red to brick-red vanadinite crystals are richly and beautifully concentrated along the crest of the incredibly sculptural matrix of globular, vaguely bladed, snow-white baryte. The large tabular crystal is 1.2 cm and has super points of gemmy fire. This is a major, two-sided specimen, as the back is festooned with rust red-brown vanadinite prisms on the distinctive, parallel-growth baryte blades. This specimen is from the late 1990s-early 2000s finds at the ACF Mine at Mibladen, Morocco. Ex. Mijer Collection.
4.0 x 4.0 x 2.9 cm. A fine Mibladen miniature vanadinite specimen from the finds 8-10 years ago. The front of this multi-sided specimen looks like a corsage of intergrown, highly lustrous, brick-red, hexagonal, blocky vanadinite prisms. The crystals are reddish-brown on the backside and one crystal has interesting skeletal features. The blocky crystals have flashes of yellow-orange fire, when viewed on end.
4.5 x 3.6 x 2.0 cm. A fine, arborescent, Mibladen miniature vanadinite specimen from the finds 8-10 years ago. The diverging clusters of highly lustrous, brick-red, hexgonal vanadinite prisms look like leaf-covered branches above the psilomelane-covered, white baryte "tree trunk". Viewed on end, many of the cogwheel-like, echelon vanadinite crystals have gemmy flashes of yellow and orange. An aesthetic, nearly pristine specimen from this famous find.
5 x 3.7 x 3.3 cm. A fine cluster of lustrous orange vanadinites from one of the world's great localities. The attractive hexagonal crystals have superb luster and a most unusual, and engaging, orange color. The largest of the tabular vanadinites is about 1 cm across. This is a very rare piece in that the orange-red color is rarer than the pure red hues we normally see. Ex. Charlie Key stock.
3.4 x 3.1 x 2.3 cm. A fine Mibladen miniature vanadinite specimen from the finds 8-10 years ago. The front of this multi-sided specimen looks like a cogwheel cluster of intergrown, highly lustrous, brick-red, hexagonal, blocky vanadinite prisms. The crystals are reddish-brown on the backside. The blocky crystals have gorgeous flashes of yellow-orange fire, when viewed on end.
8 x 6.75 x 6 cm. This sculptural matrix specimen features rich vanadinites built up upon a well-trimmed matrix plate. Highlighted by a crystal perched at the apex of the specimen, which measures 2.75 cm across, this fine, pristine matrix specimen of equant, gear-shaped, doubly terminated, lustrous and translucent crystals is stereotypical of the habit of this new pocket. Orange to yellow highlights are evident in flashes off the side faces. All the major crystals are deep red, translucent, and the whole cluster atop is complete-all-around the backside, 360 degrees. The brown coating that appears on some pieces of this pocket is here limited to the bottom of some minor crystals, and to the bottom of the piece (which is itself crystallized under the matrix shard on which the main grouping sits). 18.5 x 13.25 x 6 cm. This huge plate of vanadinite, in crystals to 1.5 cm across, is a near floater, with crystals covering the front, back and sides of the matrix. The crystals on the display (front and sides) face are equant, doubly terminated, gear-shaped and generally look like little red jewels. Lustrous and translucent, they are a reddish-brick color. Gemmy highlights of orange and yellow are present along with incipient hopper growth visible in the side faces of nearly all the crystals. Joe Budd photo.
7 x 5.5 x 5.5 cm. Topped by a large vanadinite crystal measuring 3.0 cm in length, and exhibiting dramatic hopper growth, this solid mass of intergrown, doubly terminated, lustrous and translucent, gear-shaped, brick-red crystals is really unique. Gemmy highlights of orange and yellow abound when looked at head on as in the photo, and the view from the backside is almost as interesting as the front. The thin tan coating that covers some of the pieces in this pocket preferentially coats some faces, particularly the undersides. However, this actually (luckily) serves to accent and define face boundaries better without interfering with the burst of color you want to see in the front view. The piece is a floater, complete all around and with no point of contact. Joe Budd photo.
6 x 5 x 5 cm. A complete floater composed of only solid vanadinite, this outstanding small cabinet features lustrous and translucent, gear-shaped, reddish-brown crystals reaching 2.7 cm across. Orange to yellow gemmy highlights are present along with incipient hopper growth. Most of the crystals are doubly-terminated. There is on the base and back of many crystals in this pocket, a not-so-lustrous secondary phase of powdery vanadinite: but on this specimen the coating is confined to the back side entirely and all front-facing and side-facing crystals are red or red-toned all over. Joe Budd photo.
