This is a superb specimen with sharp, lustrous, undamaged crystals to 1.5 cm across, piled up on contrasting matrix, with the crystals standing out from one another to show themselves off from all sides. The specimen has been trimmed just right, so that it can be displayed either vertically or horizontally depending on your taste; it is flashy and dazzling either way. Good vanadinites such as this continue to be very desirable, despite the flood of lesser specimens. 10.1 x 6.7 x 4.5 cm. A superb, very rich, 3-dimensional cabinet crust covered with highly lustrous, honey-brown to chocolate-brown vanadinite prisms from Chihuahua, Mexico. These are vanadinite variety endlichite crystals and are from the Erupcion Mine at Los Lamentos. Ex. John Sinkankas and Dave Stoudt Collections.
9.5 x 5.2 x 3.5 cm. On a matrix of white bladed baryte are beautiful deep red, lustrous crystals of vanadinite to one centimeter; actually this is a ridge of matrix with barite and vanadinite all the way around it.
You just don''t see many vanadinite specimens this size! There are crystals (to 1.3 cm) from top to bottom. Some of the crystals are piled up in clusters and knobs, and others stand alone against the contrasting matrix. There are a few dings, but they do not stand out on such a large and busy specimen. 23.5 x 17 x 6.5 cm
8.4 x 3.4 x 2.8 cm. On a tall, thin matrix are lustrous, deep red crystals of vanadinite to 0.8 cm. This specimen not only demonstrates a vertical form, but also the crystals are isolated on the matrix instead of massed together. Color is a little less cherry red and more toward orange in person.
10.5 x 7.2 x 3.5 cm. A superb cabinet combination specimen from the San Carlos Mine of Chihuahua, Mexico. Lustrous, caramel-colored, hexagonal vanadinite prisms to 1.1 cm are festooned on the 3-dimensional sulfide matrix covered with glassy, colorless, nearly transparent calcite rhombs. The calcite rhombs grew around the vanadinite prisms in many cases.
Specimens from the San Carlos Mine are not common on the market, and while they cannot compare to good Los Lamentos or Moroccan specimens in terms of dazzle, they are important locality pieces. And this one, in fact, does have some really nice crystals, to 0.5 cm across, of an orange-brown color and with good luster. 4.8 x 3.5 x 2.7 cm
An relatively large, 3-dimensional and extremely pretty vanadinite specimen of very unusual form, far different from what you regularly see from Mibladen. It is a rounded knob of matrix that is covered all around the curved face with bright crystals to 0.8 cm. The crystals have grown in rows rather than the usual chaos. Beautiful! 7 x 6.3 x 6.2 cm
3.4 x 2.8 x 2.4 cm. Super-lustrous crystals of vanadinite from the premier worldwide locality. In person, they are a little less cherry-red, a bit more orangey tone. Some of these crystals are actually rather gemmy. Ex. Stoudt Collection.
5.8 x 4.4 x 2.4 cm. Intensely lustrous, orangey-red crystals to 1.5 cm line the edge of the matrix of this attractive vanadinite specimen. That roughness you see on the large crystal is not damage - those are hundreds of micro-faces, possibly from an early point of attachment that later healed in the pocket. These are thick, chunky and unusually transparent crystals.
The best vanadinites are these cherry-red, lustrous crystals on stark white barite. These crystals measure up to once centimeter, with most standing on their edge, really showing them off. 7.5 x 6 x 3 cm
6.5 x 4.4 x 2.8 cm. The bright red vanadinites from Mibladen that occur on white baryte are generally recognized as the world’s best. Here are fine crystals to 1.2 cm, with wonderful true-red color and superb luster - on this highly desirable contrasting matrix of bladed white baryte.
4.7 x 4.4 x 3.9 cm. Highly lustrous crystals of vanadinite piled up on a rocky matrix, from Mibladen. For scale, that large crystal measures 1.5 cm across (though most are smaller). The color of the larger crystals is a really fine red.
5.4 x 3.4 x 1.8 cm. The highly lustrous, intensely blood-red vanadinite crystals from the 1995-96 finds at the Pure Potential (North Geronimo) Mine compare very favorably with the best United States vanadinites, including the famous Apache and Old Yuma Mines. This mine is on the same trend and area as the world-renowned Red Cloud Mine. This superb, two-sided sliver of a specimen is festooned with blood-red to orange-red vanadinite crystals to 7 mm. Ex. Dave Stoudt Collection.
8.5 x 6.5 x 3.9 cm. A beautiful specimen from the San Carlos Mine of Chihuahua, Mexico. A solid mass of highly lustrous, wet-look, butterscotch-colored to olive-green, hexagonal vanadinite prisms in a multitude of curved clusters comprise this fine piece. Many of the vanadinite prisms are curved themselves. The backside features a rich coating of calcite rhombs on the vanadinite prisms.
