9 x 6 x 4.5 cm. This is a superb specimen that consists of a very robust cluster of extremely thick, lustrous crystals to 4 cm in size. The edges are all lustrous and show flashes of orange highlights when lit. The geometry of the gear-like crystals, one attached to another in series, is visually striking. The color is a deep but vibrant red, varying in hues. The backside is complete all around except for a few crystals of the lower periphery that are coated by a second generation of vanadinite druse. 4.5 x 4 x 4 cm. This specimen looks at the same time both flower-like and machinelike, with complex hoppered faces running its length. The large crystals are 4 cm across, front to back, but the best viewing of the piece is this way - with the gear-like edges of higher lustre facing at the viewer. It is a mesmerizing effect, all the more so because there is no damage to distract the eye. 13 x 10 x 9 cm. This is a superb piece of the new pocket. It is a robust, tree-like mound of crystals that literally seems to be leaping off the matrix. The matrix is a good contrast, but not overwhelming to the freestanding 3-dimensional clusters atop it. The crystals (to 2.5 cm) uniformly have excellent deep red color with fiery orange and yellow flashes on their side faces. 9 x 7 x 7 cm. Rising up from a triangular-shaped natural pedestal of matrix is a huge, statuesque, mound of intergrown, brick-reddish vanadinite crystals to 1.7 cm across. This assemblage of robust barrel-shaped crystals exhibits fairly uniform dark brick-red color and moderate if not highest lustre, although the front-facing faces are more lustrous than side faces. The back is complete and the whole piece is wonderfully 3-dimensional, like a spreading bush of brick-red, fat vanadinite crystals. 6.3 x 5.5 x 4.3 cm. Highlighted by a magnificent 2.9 cm vanadinite crystal perched near the apex of this cluster of intergrown crystals, this is nearly a complete floater. It has the beauty and form of an exceptional specimen, very sculptural. The crystals are both tabular and more equant, extremely lustrous, and many feature the reddish core color with gemmy yellow to orange highlights that are characteristic of this pocket. Several crystals exhibit the cogwheel or gear-like form that is also so unusual, for this pocket. A lustrous, beige secondary coating of vanadinite is on the back side of many crystals but does not detract from the display faces as you can see. Joe Budd photo.
13 x 6 x 3.1 cm. A cluster of lustrous and translucent, gear-like vanadinite crystals reaching 2.5 cm or more across is aesthetically perched on contrasting matrix. The crystals have typical dark red color but additionally have brilliant gemmy highlights in orange and yellow; and several exhibit unusual hoppered growth. Joe Budd photo.
18 x 8 x 5.9 cm. This is a sculptural assemblage on matrix of dozens of thick, lustrous and translucent, gear-shaped, crystals of vanadinite to 1.7 cm across. Gemmy highlights of orange and yellow emanate from the crystals - which are mostly doubly-terminated and upright. The starkly upright crystals are unusual, from previous finds, against contrasting matrix. A fine, large cabinet piece. Joe Budd photo.
13 x 12.5 x 8.5 cm. Rising up from the matrix is a huge, statuesque, mound of intergrown, lustrous and translucent, reddish-brown vanadinite crystals to 2 cm across. This assemblage of gear-shaped crystals exhibits occasional orange to yellow highlights and the front-facing faces are lustrous although the back or underside of many crystals has a powdery brownish-yellow coating: which, while not your classic coloration, is very interesting in its oriented effect and accent of the more lustrous faces, adding to the unique look of the specimen. 5.75 x 5 x 3.6 cm. The composition of this aesthetic mound of nearly equant, intergrown, glassy and translucent, gear-shaped, reddish-brown crystals, is highly sculptural. It is pure vanadinite. Highlights of orange and yellow emanate from the crystal depths. Many crystals, to 1.5 cm across, are doubly terminated and a few exhibit incipient hopper growth. The underside and back side of the crystals have a secondary vanadinite phase of yellowish-tan color, with the yellow being lustrous. These oriented growth coverings serve to all the more accentuate the front face which is shockingly lustrous as you can see. Joe Budd photo.
5.5 x 4.25 x 3.6 cm. Composed of nearly equant, intergrown, glassy and translucent, gear-shaped, reddish-orange crystals to 2.0 cm across, this vanadinite specimen is excellent. Gemmy highlights of orange and yellow emanate out of the depths of the crystals. Surprisingly pristine. It shows very interesting geometry and a mix of simple and complex crystal habits with gear-like cogs interconnecting them. Joe Budd photo.
12 x 5 x 5.75 cm. On a sliver of matrix is an intergrown cluster of equant, doubly terminated, lustrous and translucent, gear-shaped, reddish-brown crystals of vanadinite including a huge crystal that is 3 cm across. The crystals exhibit gemmy, orange to yellow highlights and a few exhibit incipient hopper growth, although the large crystal displays incredible hopper growth. A secondary phase of yellowish-tan vanadinite is present on the sides and bases of many crystals which is not as lustrous but actually serves to highlight all the more the front view, which is lustrous and a classic brick-red in color. 6 x 5 x 2.75 cm. A spectacularly 3dimensional specimen with superb, cogwheel-like aesthetics. Nearly a complete floater, this is an impressive cluster of equant, doubly terminated, glassy and gemmy crystals to 2 cm across. Highlights of orange and yellow are emitted from the depths of the crystals. Incipient hopper growth is also noted on the back sides of some crystals. 4.5 x 3.9 x 3.5 cm. A near-floater of exceptional quality, this is a cluster of equant, doubly terminated glassy and gemmy crystals, to 2.4 cm across. The red tones are deep and vibrant. Additionally, orange to yellow gemmy highlights are emitted from the depths of the crystals in flashes of color on the side faces. The specimen exhibits a wonderful sculptural quality with a chasm in the middle setting off the two sections of the cluster. Joe Budd photo.
6.7 x 5.25 x 3.7 cm. Formed like an art easel, the two legs of this fine specimen have smaller vanadinite crystals that grow to a crescendo at the top of the specimen with a giant complete-all-around cluster atop. The crystals are equant, gear-shaped, doubly terminated, lustrous and translucent, and reach 2.4 cm across. Orange to yellow highlights are emitted from the crystal depths when viewed with light on side faces. A second, very thin generation of opaque beige colored vanadinite is on the back side of specimen and makes a nice color contrast with the reddish color on the front and sides, accentuating it more. This pristine piece is complete all around, and stands with very good geometry and dimensionality. Joe Budd photo.
4.2 x 3.0 x 2.6 cm. A stunning miniature with cogwheel-like form and superb, radiating crystals. A few tiny dings on periphery at bottom, but otherwise pristine and complete all around. The side edges have flashes of internal gemminess that are striking. As with much of this pocket, the backside is covered by an oriented secondary growth of powdery brown vanadinite. Crystals to 2 cm.
