10.3 x 7.1 x 3.9 cm. A large, dazzling specimen of bright candy-red vanadinite crystals, spread richly over thick bladed barite on matrix. The crystals measure up to 0.8 cm. They contrast wonderfully with the white and black-mineralized barites.
5.3 x 4.8 x 4.3 cm. Very appealing specimen of lustrous orange-red Vanadinites resting on contrasting grey-black Goethite. The largest is .9 cm. The Vanadinites are quite gemmy, and they have the gorgeous orange-red caps on top of the gemmy portion that we have seen only in the specimens from this one lot. These Vanadinites on Goethite have become classics because of the beautiful contrast, but these with the caps are even more desirable. Very aesthetic and attractive all the way around. Ex. Steve Smale Collection.
4.5 x 2.3 x 2.2 cm. Fine cluster of rich orange-red Vanadinites on grey-black Goethite. These Vanadinites have the unusual opaque red-orange caps that contrast so nicely with the lustrous and gemmy side faces of the crystals. The largest of the crystals is .8 cm across. The aesthetics of each crystal, as well as the overall specimen, are very good. Ex. Steve Smale Collection.
3.9 x 3.4 x 2.2 cm. Large, chunky, lustrous crystals of vanadinite, to over one centimeter across and a half-centimeter thick, on a perfectly-trimmed matrix. The crystals are in pristine condition; they are richly piled up and actually overhang the back edge of the matrix.
3.6 x 3.0 x 1.7 cm. A really neat and unusual pseudomorph from the famous Abenab Mine of Namibia of nicely elongated and situated olive-green descloizite pseudomorphs after vanadinite crystals. The pseudos are preferentially draped with sparkly, light gray dolomite rhombs, which are also richly sprinkled on the matrix. A very showy and excellent pseudo from a long-closed mine.
8.2 x 5.4 x 3.5 cm. Deep red vanadinite crystals richly piled up on a matrix that blends both white and coated (black) barite, so you get two kinds of contrast with the vanadinite crystals. Instead of being massed together, the crystals are concentrated on ridges on the barite, and this isolation adds to the attractiveness of this beautiful piece.
5.3 x 4.2 x 2.6 cm. This is a specimen of super-lustrous, orange-red "candy" crystals of vanadinite, in a matrix of white bladed barite with hematite-coated edges. As you can see, these crystals really sparkle and shine! They are rather GEMMY looked at closely, though you generally think of vanadinite as opaque - these you really can see into!
5.5 x 3.8 x 3.8 cm. A RARE OLD-TIME specimen of discrete hexagonal, brown vanadinite prisms covered with an overgrowth of gray, drusy quartz. This showy, jackstraw piece, has vanadinite crystals to 1.9 cm and you can see the hollow growth tubes on a couple of the vanadinites. Paper label dates to August 16, 1946! Ex. George Elling Collection.
4.9 x 4.2 x 2.9 cm. Deep red, lustrous crystals of vanadinite, piled up richly on the barite matrix, from the prime vanadinite locality of Mibladen. The crystals are piled up around 1.5 cm thick on the matrix!
8.7 x 6.7 x 3.4 cm. This type of vanadinite specimen is generally regarded as the best of all: bright crystals isolated on stark white, bladed barite. This specimen features glassy crystals to 1 cm, a fine bright red, in a beautiful balance with the contrasting crystals of barite.
3.2 x 2.9 x 2.0 cm. These are just spectacular crystals of vanadinite - actually GEMMY - orange at the centers, and red at the terminations. What also adds to their beauty is the glassy luster. The largest crystal here measures 1 cm both in height and across the termination. The crystals are wrapped around just a bit of barite matrix.
9.0 x 6.5 x 2.6 cm. Stark white bladed barite studded with bright, super-lustrous crystals of vanadinite, from the premier locality of Mibladen.
4.1 x 2.2 x 1.2 cm. This is a flattened, hoppered, profoundly modified compound crystal of vanadinite, from the prime vanadinite locality of Mibladen. It is a floater, with no contacts.
2.8 x 2.2 x 1.2 cm. Another flattened, distorted crystal of vanadinite from Mibladen, showing hoppering on the edges. It has bright color, and is a complete floater.
7.5 x 6.3 x 4.0 cm. INCREDIBLY RED and lustrous vanadinite crystals to 7 mm RICHLY cover matrix on both sides of this excellent and very showy specimen from the 1990s find at the Pure Potential Mine of Arizona. The Pure Potential is just north of the famous Red Cloud Mine. These are considered the finest United States vannies and you can see why. Some of the crystals are hoppered. The whole piece sparkles like cherry red sprinkles glued over ice cream, and is SIMPLY GORGEOUS.
