Turquoise seldom crystallizes in nature, and the best specimen s for lustre and color come from this old claim in rural Virginia. Today, such pieces are almost impossible to obtain on the market. I have had several dozen over the last 20 years , from old collections and of varying qualities. This would rank as one of the best, perhaps the best I have personally handled for the overall size and impact of the display face; and for the intensity of color. It is a very important, but seldom seen, American classic, ex. Ted Johnson collection.

A VERY strange pseudo, one of the best I have yet seen from this new find down in Mexico! This crystal is relatively sharp, so far as they go, faithfully showing apatite crystal form even though the crystal is now completely replaced by carving-grade turquoise!

Crystallized turquise is for some reason a true rarity in nature and occurs only at a VERY few localities worldwide. This one, in Virginia, is the most famous of them. While the crystals individually are sub-mm, this piece overall has an incredibly rich and pristine coverage area that is loaded with them, making it an important specimen. 7.6 x 2.7 x 2.4 cm

WOW! I keep a special eye out for this old classic material, notable as some of the world's finest crystallized turquoise, and I have NEVER seen for sale a plate as large and rich as this one! The pictures do not do justice to the natural sparkling brightness of these crystals; though in addition to its visual impact it has obvious mineralogical importance for the locality and species as well. 10.5 x 10 x 4 cm
