2.7 x 2.3 x 1.5 cm. Tsumcorite is a rare lead arsenate and this thumbnail is richly covered with orange-brown microcrystals from the name-sake Type Locality. It is a small specimen, but a very rich one with high quality microcrystals in rich covering. So, it is pretty - most are very much uglier! This showy and excellent rarity is from the Dr. Mark Feinglos Collection, a noted rare species collector.
3.7 x 2.9 x 1.8 cm. Freestanding crystals of tsumcorite in relatively large clusters to several mm.
5 x 4.5 x 3 cm. The color of the tsumcorite is an attractive rich orange-yellow. The tsumcorite clusters are well-isolated on contrasting matrix and have a 3-dimensionality to them. Orange-yellow aggregates to 5 mm in size. Ex. Willy Israel Collection.
12.5 x 11.4 x 6.8 cm. A huge and very rich specimen of microcrystallized yellow tsumcorite perched on small crystals of quartz. This is a large and unusually rich example for the species. Ex. Willy Israel Collection.
6.6 x 5.2 x 3.5 cm. A large and unusually rich specimen of microcrystallized orange-yellow tsumcorite perched on small crystals of quartz. Ex. Willy Israel Collection.
6.7 x 5.2 x 4.8 cm. A large and unusually rich specimen of microcrystallized orange-yellow tsumcorite perched on small crystals of quartz. Ex. Willy Israel Collection.
5.2 x 2.9 x 2.2 cm. An rich and pretty tsumcorite specimen. Large crystals to 1 cm, on contrasting matrix.
Moss-green sparkling tsumcorite has here coated a 1.5 cm tennantite crysatl. The overall effect is quite unusual and interesting! Acquired 4-15-1979. 6 x 5.5 x 4 x 2.5 cm
2.8 x 2.6 x 1.5 cm. One side is richly coated with yellow tsumcorite blades with lustrous, brown wulfenite crystals. The other side is composed of a jackstraw cluster of sharp quartz crystals coated with hematite. Ex. Ed Ruggiero Collection.
6.5 x 5.3 x 3.5 cm. Yellow tsumcorite druse covers the rich field of sharp tennantite crystals that reach 1.7 cm. The specimen is nicely accented with lustrous dolomite rhombs and a few glassy, amber wulfenite crystals to 4 mm. The backside of the specimen is further complimented with a rich druse of blue-green rosasite. Ex. Willy Israel Collection.
Tsumcorite is a rare lead/zinc/iron arsenate that occurs only at Tsumeb in such good crystallized specimens. It is seldom found and specimens are usually both small and unimpressive. Barlow's, for example, was only a miniature of similar syle to this piece ... 1/5 the size! This is a monstrous piece for the species, with excellent color and complete coverage, and so quite significant! It is certainly the richest single piece I know of that has been for sale in recent years. 8 x 5 x 4 cm
6.4 x 5.4 x 4.4 cm. Tsumcorite is one of the signature mineral species rarities for which the Tsumeb Mine is renowned and is also the Type Locality. Tsumcorite is a lead, zinc, iron arsenate and is named after the Tsumeb (Tsum) Corporation (Cor) Mine. Yellow-brown and orange-brown radial clusters of tsumcorite are richly and aesthetically scattered on the 3-dimensional matrix and are complimented by a multitude of tiny quartz crystals. Quartz is uncommon at Tsumeb, so this is not only a fine rarity, but also an outstanding combination rarity.
This specimen features of the rarer species from Tsumeb. There are several, very small (almost sub micro), dark reddish-brown color "blades" of Tsumcorite associated with Aragonite and Malachite. A good piece for micro collectors. 5.2 x 5.2 x 3.3cm
This beautiful rarity has to be one of the nicest presentation-quality specimens of crystallized tsumcorite around. The quality of the crystals is really high because of many reasons: the size of the individual crystals , which are eye-visible, are relatively huge for the species; they have bright color instead of the usual rusty brown hues; sharp form as recognizable crystals instead of the usual crust of intergrown crystals (then, usually as micros); and the rich and attractive coverage on contrasting matrix. Quartz is also quite rare from Tsumeb, and the matrix concists entirely of quartz, hematite-stained a brown color. This is an exceptional and beautiful tsumcorite, and one of a style that is, for the reasons above, seldome see. 3 x 2.4 x 1.6 cm
An incredibly rich and , more importantly from some points of view, PRETTY, tsumcorite specimen with real display quality to it! Usually, these are smears on lumps of rock. This piece, however, has huge, 3-dimensional aggregations of relatively robust and large crystals to 1 cm , on contrasting matrix. Bright yellow is rare, compared to brown and ruddy orange tsumcorite. The relief and display quality of this specimen made it leap out at me. It was found on Sept 4 , 1976, in the DeWet Shaft of the mine, and I think the German label with it indicates on the 33 level, W-50 stope. Specimens of this calibre are EXTREMELY rare and this is a major piece for any Tsumeb collection, rare or common. (TYPE LOCALITY)
