15.8 x 8.0 x 2.2 cm. Two gemmy, lightly frosted, light cherry-red rhodochrosite rhombs to 1.8 cm, on the diagonal, are nicely placed on a sculptural LARGE CABINET plate covered with a forest of quartz needles. The plate is further accented by scatterings of tetrahedrite and a couple of pyritohedrons. This showy and excellent specimen is from the 1996 Hedgehog Pocket.
9.2 x 7.7 x 3.2 cm. Lustrous, dark battleship-gray tetrahedrite crystals to 2.6 cm RICHLY cover needle quartz-covered matrix on this showy sulfide specimen from the Pincushion II Pocket of the very famous and now-closed Sweet Home Mine. These are large Sweet Home tetrahedrites and this is an excellent accessory mineral specimen from this renowned locality.
5.3 x 3.7 x 3.3 cm. An extremely sharp and well-terminated, 1.3 cm, metallic-gray "schwatzite" or mercurian tetrahedrite crystal aesthetically centered on quartz matrix from the Type Locality - Schwaz, Inn valley, Tyrol, Austria. This was briefly considered a separate species for some time. This is a VERY LARGE crystal for this RARE species and locality, which is not diminished by trivial termination edge wear. Ex. George Elling Collection.
7.7 x 5.5 x 2.5 cm. Both of these minerals are well-known from Zacatecas. Here, you have a nicely-balanced specimens with sharp crystals of both, isolated by snowy quartz that adds attractiveness to the specimen. From the well-known California collection of Charles Hansen.
5.4 x 4.4 x 2.7 cm. An aesthetic and showy combination specimen from the famous and now-closed Sweet Home Mine. Gemmy and lustrous, cherry-red rhodochrosite rhombs are nicely set on matrix covered with large, sharp and lustrous, dark gray tetrahedrite crystals and a scattering of needle quartz crystals. The tetrahedrites reach 1.7 cm, large for the species and locality. Tetrahedrite is a highly desirable sulfide from this famous mine. This showy piece is from the Pincushion Pocket. Henry Minot specimen.
5.8 x 4.4 x 4.2 cm. Sharp pyramidal crystals of tetrahedrite to 2 cm, with metallic luster, surrounded by accenting crystals of calcite and quartz.
23 x 9 x 5 cm. For the size and overall visual impact, this is a stunning and unusually large rhodo plate with SHARP, and I mean SHARP, GEMMY crystals to 2 cm in size. Most of them average 1 cm. Sprinkled amongst the red, are sharp black clusters of metallic tetrahedrite which make for a really nice contrast. The piece has the TOP CHERRY COLOR.
7.4 x 5.5 x 4 cm. A choice specimen of superb sharp Chalcopyrites clustered beautifully on a matrix of Tetrahedrite and Quartz. The largest Chalcopyrite is 3 cm across, and the patina is fantastic. Ex. Charlie Key.
14.3 x 10.9 x 6.2 cm. Fluorites from the Sweet Home were overshadowed by their glorious associates, the red rhodochrosites, and were typically seen as association crystals on specimens dominated by rhodo. In this case, you have a large plate on which the fluorites are the star - pretty little light blue razor-sharp cubes, beautifully set off by slender quartz crystals and dark crystals of tetrahedrite. Dave Stoudt acquired this specimen from Collectors Edge back in 1992, when it came out. From the Rainbow Pocket.
3.8 x 2.8 x 1.7 cm. There was a small pocket that produced these Tetrahedrite specimens about 5 years ago, and they are some of the finest quality Tetrahedrite specimens that I have seen from Bolivia. This specimen features on predominant tetrahedron with VERY sharp faces and extremely highly luster sitting on matrix. The crystal itself has many small tetrahedral "hillocks" covering the faces of the crystal which make for a very unique "ripple" effect on all sides.
4.8 x 2.6 x 2.3 cm. A superb specimen of sharply crystallized tetrahedrite, with good lustre and excellent crystal form. Ex. Rice Northwest Museum Collection.
5.2 x 4.2 x 2.3 cm. A superb miniature with gemmy and transparent crystals on tetrahedrite. The matrix is crystallized tetrahedrite of jet black color and lustre. A few clear quartzes accent the piece. From the Octahedron Pocket. Ex. Helmut Bruckner Collection.
7.1 x 5.6 x 1.9 cm. Here is a stunning pyrite from the Sweet Home Mine, with mirror-bright, golden striated cubes intergrown with minor tetrahedrite, on a bed of transparent quartz needles. Ex. Gene Meieran Collection.
8.7 x 7.5 x 5.0 cm. Sharp crystals to 1 cm of this rare mercurian varietal of tetrahedrite, from the classic locality for this species in Europe.
5.9 x 4.8 x 2.6 cm. Sharp crystals to 1.3 cm of this rare mercurian varietal of tetrahedrite, from the classic locality for this species in Europe.
