6 x 3 x 3 cm. A very fine specimen of svanbergite crystals to 6mm on matrix of contrasting green uvite. The Svanbergite is large and well-formed, and the perch on uvite is unusual. Ex. Carlos Barbosa and Eric Asselborn Collections.
MD-215343 - Uvite, Svanbergite, Magnesite - - Archived Pomba pit, Serra das Éguas, Brumado (Bom Jesus dos Meiras), Bahia, Northeast Region, Brazil large cabinet, 16.7 x 7.3 x 7.0 cm.
16.7 x 7.3 x 7.0 cm. This gorgeous cabinet plate is superb - lustrous red uvite crystals to several mm in size, perched upon lustrous gem magnesite rhombohedra. Mixed in are a few 0.5 to 2mm beige rhombs of svanbergite, a rare species sometimes found in this deposit. However, rarely do you find it on the same specimen as the red uvite tourmaline.
MD-215449 - Uvite, Svanbergite - - Archived Pomba pit, Serra das Éguas, Brumado (Bom Jesus dos Meiras), Bahia, Northeast Region, Brazil small cabinet, 9.3 x 6.2 x 5.0 cm.
9.3 x 6.2 x 5.0 cm. Brilliant green uvite crystals to 5mm sit, sparkling, on a sparkling matrix of crystallized magnesite. The underlying matrix is either massive magnesite or dolomite. The intensity of the little jewel-like uvites, and their contrast to the matrix, is striking. A single sharp 4mm svanbergite (beige-colored) is also present.
MD-21593 - Svanbergite, Dolomite - - Archived Mount Brussilof mine (Bay Mag Mine), Radium Hot Springs, Golden Mining Division, British Columbia, Canada thumbnail, 3 x 2.5 x 2.1 cm
A very pretty and richly crystallized specimen of this rare species, with sharp cubic 1mm-plus crystals on contrasting matrix of sparkling white dolomite! In person, this is a very colorful and showy piece, aside from the rarity, and is of display quality 3 x 2.5 x 2.1 cm
TUC115-204 - Svanbergite pseudo. after Uvite Tourmaline - $ 750 Brumado, Bahia, Brazil thumbnail, 2.8 x 1.4 x 1.2 cm ex. Ken Roberts
A highly unusual thing, here! This is a complete and total replacement of an unusually elongated uvite tourmaline for which this locale is famously known, by the rare strontium-aluminum phosphate species Svanbergite. I have never seen another, personally. I can only assume that this crystal must, although a pseudomorph, rank very highly in terms of the size of crystals known for this species. From the noted pseudomorph collection of dealer and collector, Ken Roberts.
