LC-179 - STRONTIANITE and CHALCOPYRITE on BARITE - $ 400 SOLD Dreislar, Sauerland, Germany small cabinet, 7.5 x 3 x 3 cm
Dreislar is a classic locality for barite, to be sure, but I personally haven't seen STRONTIANITE from here before, and this piece hosts superb crystals of lustrous beige strontianite to 1 cm in size. This barite crystal is not as thinly bladed as normal from here, but rather is a thick, chisel-shaped crystal.

MD-142361 - Strontianite, Quartz - - Archived Cavradi gorge, Curnera Valley, Tujetsch (Tavetsch), Vorderrhein Valley, Grischun (Grisons; Graubünden), Switzerland miniature, 4.7 x 3.8 x 3.0 cm.
4.7 x 3.8 x 3.0 cm. A RARE and BEAUTIFUL radial spray of white strontianite needles from a very famous locality - Cavradi, Switzerland. I have never seen such a good one for sale from here. A very small area of broken crystals is noted, but is certainly not a major detraction to this fine piece. The characteristic transparent, flattened, 2.3 cm quartz blade on the back proves this piece is from Cavradi and not from Illinois, as I would have initially thought. Ex. Brent Lockhart Collection.

7.3 x 6.5 x 4.3 cm. It is very rare to find strontianite in sharp, hexagonal crystals, and this excellent and very rich example from this classic old locale is exceptional for this reason alone even if they weren’t also so pretty to look at. The largest crystal is 2.3 cm and is doubly terminated. The lustrous, translucent, colorless prisms are richly and aesthetically strewn on a maze-like, box-work matrix with sparkly dolomite. Ex. Helmut Bruckner Collection, a well-known German dealer and collector.

Extremely fine (and rare for the species) hexagonal crystals sitting on a lovely drusy matrix (more strontianite?), all perched atop large magnesite crystals... Rarely do you see Strontianite in this habit and these sharp lustrous crystals with such a soft creamy color make you wish it was more common. This remarkable piece was in the Ed David collection, though my friend here trimmed it down from its previous incarnation as a big clunker into this well-balanced miniature. It is sawed on the back and bottom, but that doesn't show from the display face 5.6 x 3.5 x 3.5 cm
