ch08 - Strengite - $ 250 SOLD Stewart Mine, Pala, San Diego County, California, USA miniature, 5.8 x 5.3 x 4.5 cm ex. Chuck Houser
An unusual and actually pretty example, very rich for the County, of this phosphate!
MD-112576 - Kidwellite, Strengite - - Archived Coon Creek Mine (York Mine), Shady, Polk Co., Arkansas, USA small cabinet, 5.4 x 3 x 2.5 cm
A beautiful 7mm green sphere of kidwellite, the rare phosphate from Arkansas. This is a REALLY good kidwellite! Rarely do you get them so nice and isolated, instead of just as a crust on matrix. This is an old specimen, obtained fro Al Kidwell in all likelihood back when Marty lived in Texas as well. 5.4 x 3 x 2.5 cm
MD-112592 - Strengite, Rockbridgeite - - Archived Leveäniemi Mine, Svappavaara, Kiruna district, Lappland, Sweden miniature, 3.5 x 2.8 x 2.6 cm
A gorgeous miniature with high quality and good relief both - a rare combination. The strengite (purple) is of extremely high quality and size for the material (to 6 mm). The rockbridgeite though, is probably even better all things considered as this species is usually just the associated mineral and not so dominant in its own crystallization that it stands out so nicely as here. 3.5 x 2.8 x 2.6 cm
MD-173724 - Strengite, Rockbridgeite - - Archived Leveäniemi Mine, Svappavaara, Kiruna district, Lappland, Sweden miniature, 4.1 x 4.1 x 2.5 cm.
4.1 x 4.1 x 2.5 cm. A showy combination specimen of phosphates from the famous Leveaniemi Iron Mine of Sweden. Lustrous, lavender strengite spheres to 3 mm are aesthetically and richly scattered with sea-foam green spheres of rockbridgeite to 4 mm in a 3-dimensional vug atop massive hematite matrix. These specimens were collected in the mid-1980s and the mine is now closed. Ex. George Elling Collection. This Photo was Mindat.org Photo of the Day - 8th Aug 2008
MD-247906 - Strengite, Beraunite - - Archived Leveäniemi Mine, Svappavaara, Kiruna district, Lappland, Sweden small cabinet, 5.7 x 3.5 x 2.7 cm.
5.7 x 3.5 x 2.7 cm. Material collected here in the 1960s-1970s is now hard to obtain, but is desirable for its beautiful purple strengites associated with other rare phosphate species. Here we have strengite balls to 4 mm associated with beraunite and likely other species as well. Excellent reference material for this now defunct locale. Ex. Harold Urish Collection.
