When minerals are said to resemble "bow ties", this piece and its species are the definitive description. This specimen is deeply colored yellow-orange and does have translucency. I know it is "just" a stilbite but geez, is it a good one!
Two clusters of deep royal blue color cavansites to almost 1.5 cm are perched on a matrix of mm size crystals of gray-white stilbite.
Two discrete clusters, one to 2 cm ,of deep royal blue, lustrous cavansite are perched on the upper portion of a gray mm size stilbite crystal matrix. This is an aesthetic piece.
NEW FIND! Usually a specimen can be viewed in only one direction, but this piece can easily be viewed both vertically and/or horizontally. This is a 11 cm elongated group of interconnected, lustrous, stark white doubly terminated stilbites which have been pierced by a doubly terminated , light green, gemmy apophyllite. All I can say is Wow!
NEW FIND! Even nicer, is this specimen featuring white, lustrous, doubly terminated interconnected stilbites to 2.5 cm pierced at the top by a 6 cm, light green, lustrous, doubly terminated apophyllite crystal. The apophyllite actually has multiple terminations and the overall display effect is wonderful.
NEW FIND! This specimen features two doubly terminated, lustrous, apophyllite crystals each measuring 6 cm in length embedded in and through a stalactitic cluster of stilbite.
When displayed vertically, this stilbite group of a pleasing light salmon color features bowtie crystals up to 8 cm across. All of these sit nicely on a thin crust of matrix.
These apophyllites from this small new find of which I bought nearly all, are frosted on the surface with a sparkly druse of microcrystalline quartz. They exhibit a wonderful and unique Blue-green hue and sit nicely on contrasting quartz and white stilbite.
This is an extremely lustrous and gemmy, color zoned light green, doubly-terminated apophyllite sitting on a crust of stilbite. Although these equant crystals are not as highly sought after as the pyramidal ones for some reason, I think these have a symmetrical beauty the others lack. And the color on this one is TOP.
These apophyllites from this small new find of which I bought nearly all, are frosted on the surface with a sparkly druse of microcrystalline quartz. They exhibit a wonderful and unique Blue-green hue and sit nicely on contrasting quartz and lustrous stilbite crystals. The apophyllite is extremely showy!
These apophyllites from this small new find of which I bought nearly all, are frosted on the surface with a sparkly druse of microcrystalline quartz. They exhibit a wonderful and unique Blue-green hue and sit nicely on contrasting quartz and 2.5 cm white, lustrous stilbite crystals. BEST OF POCKET!
On an unusally colorful matrix of stilbite sits a lustrous, white composite crystal of powellite. This crystal exceeds 4 cm in length, which is relatively huge. However, to my thinking, this specimen is further refined by the remarkable sharp terminations at the top of the powellite.
