9.3 x 6.6 x 2.5 cm. The various ore bodies in southern Bulgaria have produced a lot of memorable sulfide and carbonate specimens, and even though the Rhodochrosite from this area is not world-class, it is the only locality that I know of where Rhodochrosite occurs with stilbite. This piece would be a good association specimen without the Stilbite crystals, but the color combination of pink Rhodochrosite, with white Stiblite, golden Chalcopyrite and underlain brownish Sphalerite makes this a very attractive and unusual piece. The Stilbite crystals are admittedly small, but the fact that they are sitting atop Rhodochrosite makes it all the more enticing. Ex. Brian Kosnar Collection.
6.6 x 4.1 x 4.0 cm. A 9 mm, lustrous, royal-blue ball of cavansite crystals is aesthetically set on mounded basalt matrix covered with tiny stilbite blades and accented with pearlescent, stilbite blades. The doubly terminated stilbite next to the cavansite ball is 2.3 cm.
14.5 x 10.8 x 6.1 cm. A daisy-chain nearly 4 inches long, of beautiful, top-colored, lustrous cavansite balls winds its way elegantly down this attractive and large matrix plate. This piece, at 759 grams, is of good size and makes for a somewhat unusual display compared to the normal cavansite style we see so often. Such long clusters, in such consistent coloration, are really quite rare even amongst the thousands of specimens mined at these quarries over the last decade or so.
5.5 x 3.8 x 2.1 cm. A very aesthetic and very rare combination piece from the Himalaya Mine and the Irv Brown Collection. A classic, 3.3 x 2.2 cm, pink tourmaline with a green cap is very artfully attached to a snow-white albite crystal blade. The back of the tourmaline and albite crystals are totally covered with tiny, bladed stilbite crystals. This is an outstanding and rare association piece from this historic mine. Tourmaline is pristine, gemmy and lustrous.
7.2 x 5 x 3.2 cm. A superlative Stilbite bowtie with a light peach color and excellent luster. Measuring 7.5 cm across, this is a fabulous Stilbite. Ex. Charlie Key.
9.8 x 7.2 x 7 cm. A truly exceptional combination piece with one of the finest Indian Calcites I have seen, lustrous Stilbites, and a nice green Fluorapophyllite. The centerpiece Calcite is a stunning 7.8 cm on the front edge, with superb luster and excellent gemminess. The front edge is also the main twinning plane. What makes the Calcite itself even more exceptional are the two wings, which appear to be twins of the very rare {0221} twinning law. Each occurs on opposing ends of the main twinning plane. The Stilbites are primarily bowties up to 3 cm with incredible luster, and the Fluorapophyllite is a combination of 2 cm green bladed crystals. Ex. Charlie Key Collection.
A STRIKING and DRAMATIC LARGE CABINET specimen of a lustrous 6.0 cm wide salmon-pink stilbite rosette aesthetically set in a vug covered with lustrous, transparent and striated colorless apophyllite crystals from Nasik, India. The minor bit of peripheral damage is inconsequential to this magnficent specimen. MUCH BETTER IN PERSON, I assure you. Our lighting system could not capture the beauty of this very large specimen. 19.0 x 14.5 x 6.5 cm
An exceptionally cute lustrous "pinwheel" cluster of cream-colored stilbite, perched nicely on matrix! Translucent and pristine - this is a great Indian rock! ex. Dr. Gary Hansen dealer stock and not shown since early 1980s. 7.4 x 7.3 x 3.9 cm
A pearly 5-cm apophyllite crystal perched nicely on pink stilbite! The apoph is complete save for part of the rear-upper side which is contacted ex. Dr. Gary Hansen dealer stock and not shown since early 1980s 12 x 7 x 4.5 cm
9.0 x 8.2 x 7.2 cm. A striking and sculptural combination specimen from recent finds at Jalgaon, India. This fine, complete-all-around and pristine mounded piece is highlighted by large, very glassy, blocky and colorless apophyllite crystals and is beautifully accented with pearlescent, light peach, stilbite blades. The large apophyllite is 5.0 x 4.5 x 2.7 cm, has interesting modified corners, and has two layers, like a sandwich.
18.0 x 15.3 x 5.5 cm. A sculptural, very impressive, large cabinet cavansite specimen from recent finds at the Wagholi Quarry. Clusters and individual crystals of lustrous, fine, royal-blue cavansite are richly and very aesthetically strewn on the plate covered with pearlescent stilbite blades. The cavansite ball perched on the edge of the top of the plate is 1.5 cm and the excellent cluster on the lower right is 2.7 cm across.
15.2 x 10.8 x 6.8 cm. A fine, large cabinet combination specimen from recent finds at Jalgaon. The typical curved basalt vug is prominently highlighted by a superb, 5.7 cm wide cluster of very glassy, prismatic, green apophyllite crystals. The band of pearlescent, light peach-colored stilbite blades along the top and scattered in the vug are a super accent to the vug lining of light pink, popcorn-style drusy quartz.
7.6 x 6.4 x 5.3 cm. A classic "bow-tie"-shaped aggregate of light peach color Stilbite crystals very aesthetically perched atop colorless, gemmy Apophyllite crystal matrix. Ex. Brian Kosnar Collection.
8.7 x 8.7 x 5.8 cm. A rich combination specimen of 4 zeolite species from a classic, now hard-to-access zeolite locale in Canada. The radiating natrolite crystals are protected in a pocket with associated stilbite. The matrix around and above the pocket is lined with small, stable, pink-colored laumontite crystals (this is an unusual color). Heulandite, rare for the locale, is also present as a crystal cluster on the backside. Ex. Harold Urish Collection.
15.2 x 11.7 x 10.8 cm. A stunning 9 x 3 x 3 cm gemmy crystal of pastel green apophyllite sits on peach-colored stilbite in this naturally pocket-shaped specimen. The quality of the single, isolated crystal is outstanding - lustre, sharpness, glassy surface all. There is no damage. The trimming of the pocket of stilbite around it creates a very balanced look and display.
