The best viewing angle for this specimen shows a 3-dimensional upright stilbite "bow tie", 8.0 cm in length, with a pastel salmon color and great luster and translucence. The matrix is a thin veneer of basalt. On the side of the specimen is a light emerald green fluorapophyllite, whose termination is just visible here - and in person this presents another alternate view with the green poking out, and is quite nice as well.
This artistic natural sculpture is composed of rosettes of bladed stilbite which has been colored green by the mineral celadonite, a potassium, iron, magnesium, silicate. It is also a member of the mica group. The largest rosette measures 10.0 cm across. I have never seen one so large and dramatic, and 3-dimensional! Remarkable!
This is an aesthetic miniature on matrix, consisting of India’s two best known, trap rock, mineral species. The very lustrous, partially transparent, light green, fluorapophyllite measures 5.0 cm in length and terminates in a basal pinacoid. Along side the big crystal are a few pearlescent stilbite crystals, to 2.0 cm across.
Surrounded by sheaves of pearlescent, stilbite, to 3.0 cm in length, is a large, translucent, lustrous, emerald green, crystal of fluorapophyllite, terminated by a basal pinacoid and measuring 4.0 cm across.
Growing on a sliver of matrix, are two, large, blocky, crystals of glassy, bi-colored, fluorapophyllite ,the largest of which is 7.0 cm in length. For aesthetics, the two crystals form a near perfect "V" and there are also pearlescent, 2.0 cm across stilbite crystals scattered on the fluorapophyllite crystals. A VERY showy and aesthetic piece!
This is a superb, lustrous, translucent, salmon pink, "bow tie", of stilbite. The form and color are spectacular! Totally common as a species, totally typical in classic bowtie form; and yet of superb quality for the common style and with a bit more color and 3-dimensionality than usual...its those extra bits of quality that make it stand out from the crowd. THIS IS REALLY a good one, far better than average
On a basaltic matrix with pastel green, clusters of chalcedony are emplaced, lustrous, translucent, dark salmon color, crystals of stilbite, to 4.5 cm across. The color contrast is amazing! This is one of the largest examples form this small find of last fall. . This piece has a few VERY trivial little bits of bruising, hence the low price, but displays really nicely and is impressive overall for the size and color splash
This is a fine mineral specimen, not only for the two generations of stilbite and a rocket ship-like fluorapophyllite, but also for the the superb balance of the whole specimen. The whole specimen is on a matrix of basalt and small white chalcedony clusters. A large, cauliflower–like cluster of ivory colored, lustrous, translucent, stilbite, to 7.0 cm, is offset by pearlescent, blades of stilbite to 2.5 cm across. Then there is the 5.5 cm tall, lustrous and translucent, pastel green fluorapophyllite crystal alongside. Probably worth more, as its complete 360 and displays wonderfully..
On a basaltic matrix with a white, druse of chalcedony, are emplaced, pearlescent, stilbite crystals, to 2.5 cm across. There is also a single, light, mint- green, fluorapophyllite crystal, with good luster and translucence, which measures 7.0 cm in length. I love this new find, with unusual dramatic and isolated apophs having such a stark termination, and bought much of it!
Perched on a sliver of matrix, is a single, lustrous, transparent, light, mint green, fluorapophyllite crystal, terminated by the basal pinacoid. I love this new find, with unusual dramatic and isolated apophs having such a stark termination, and bought much of it. There are also attached a few pearlescent, stilbite crystals, to 3.0 cm in length. TOP QUALITY miniature, and one of the few smaller ones from this pocket in this size range.
This is an exquisite, "bow tie", doubly terminated, crystal cluster, of lustrous, transparent, light, mint green, fluorapophyllite. Attached are a few, pearlescent, stilbite crystals to 1.3 cm across. It is a large, and impressive thumbnail that really stands out from the crowd. its not just a "small apophyllite..."; rather, its an exquisite one that happens to be small. Important difference, especially in competitive thumbnail exhibits!
This unusual specimen exhibits three generations of mineral, staring with a matrix of tan, drusy, stilbite, upon which grew a cluster of royal blue, cavansite measuring 1.5 cm in length. Encrusting the cavansite is a generation of colorless, gemmy, calcite crystals, to .2 cm across. This latter encrustation gives the underlying cavansite a strange, candy coating, effect.
A basaltic matrix with a pearlescent, druse of stilbite, act as the host for two rosettes of royal blue, translucent, cavansite, to 1.3 cm across. Jauntily perched on top of the upper cavansite rosette, is a transparent, light, amber colored calcite crystal, measuring .7 cm in length. Amazing aesthetics!
This V shaped specimen of stilbite is bisected by a doubly terminated, pearlescent stilbite crystal. All three of the main crystals exhibit translucence and super luster as well as a terra-cotta color. The dt crystal measures 2.7 cm across.
The primary crystal is a "bow tie", lustrous and translucent, terra-cotta, colored crystal, measuring 4.5 cm across.
