6.0 x 2.3 x 1.6 cm. This specimen came out about 25 years ago when there was a large find of some superb Stibnites from this mine. Before China, these were some of the best Stibnites to reach the market in a long time. This specimen is comprises several highly lustrous, sharp, silvery sword shaped crystals of Stibnite forming a very aesthetic crystal spray. The piece is associated with minor white bladed Baryte. A great classic Bolivian Stibnite specimen.
This specimen came out in a one-time find which was brought to Tucson in (if i recall correctly) in 1988 or 1989. It is a sparkling, showy piece composed of a thick coating of translucent lavender fluorite which has coated the stibnite beneath. Amongst all such specimens I have seen, it really is one of the better examples for size and overall 3-dimensionality as an affordable miniature-sized piece. As a final note, I should say that this unique find remains so to this day, with no further examples coming to market in over a decade. 3 x 2.4 x 1 cm
Everyone now wishes they had grabbed more of these when they were coming out for a short time, because they are so interesting and pretty - and unique as a combo. The stibnites here have the gunmetal luster of Romanian crystals, and the largest calcite, measuring 3 cm across, shows pretty striations and deep, gemmy amber color. 5.8 x 5.0 x 3.5 cm
A diverging group of splendent silver–grey stibnite crystals to 4 cm in length is topped by matte black 2-cm-tall crystals of calcite. The calcite crystals are the stacked “poker chip” habit, one atop another. There is some minor damage to the crystal tips, but this is all on the back side. I am told that there are actually a number of old stibnite workings in the area. 7.7 x 6.2 x 4.2 cm
RARE LOCALITY PIECE: This specimen features a diverging spray of 2 cm stibnite crystals on a knob of matrix. Not the prettiest in the world, I admit, but an important piece nonetheless. The color is a deep blackish- gray. 7.6 x 6.5 x 2.2 cm
A VERY interesting fluorite, SHOT through with inclusions of stibnite that are wholly contained WIHTIN the crystal, and not present on the quartz matrix itself?! 2.8 x 2 x 2 cm crystal. NOTE: NOT FROM THE ZINN COLLECTION (but it got mixed in with them and photo'd , so i left it for the update). The stibnite was confirmed by xray at the university of boudler in colorado, i am told. 5.8 x 3.5 x 2.5 cm
An elegant stibnite specimen, with two crystals of mirror-metallic luster having grown up side by side, both perfectly terminated. 7.6 x 1.9 x .5 cm
An aesthetic, undamaged cluster of metallic-bright stibnite crystals from from China. The curved crystal really adds pazzazz to this fine piece. Ex Marty Lewadny Collection of Winnipeg, Canada. 7.7 x 3.9 x 2.4 cm
There''s a nice small cab sized stibnite in this auction, and here, for someone who prefers larger specimens, is a BIG, fine, dramatic one! The crystals are terminated, save for one down at the bottom of the specimen, and there are a couple of crystals actually growing right across the top terminations. The luster is a fine bright silvery-metallic. The main crystal here is over 15 cm in length! 15.3 x 6.1 x 2.6cm
A fine small cabinet stibnite specimen, with all the crystals in the central cluster terminated, and a nice shiny metallic luster. 8.3 x 3.6 x 1.9 cm
Two major terminated crystals anchor this specimen, with smaller crystals clustered around the sides. There is a wee bit of edge wear, but in general the specimen is in fine shape. Mirror-metallic luster. 9.9 x 2.4 x 1.5 cm
An SUPERB CABINET specimen of a highly lustrous, doubly terminated stibnite crystal with an aesthetically placed cluster of smaller stibnite crystals. Both terminations are pristine and the damage to a few of the smaller crystals is absolutely not detracting or even noticeable. EXCELLENT material from the Lewadny Collection. 11.3 x 4.1 x 2.5 cm
Two main crystals, bright metallic luster with superb terminations, with smaller crystals growing across them and at the bottom. 11.6 x 4.5 x 2.4 cm
Save for India, you don’t often see one mineral coating another in such an aesthetic manner (the Fluorites on Stibnite from Thailand come to mind). The delicate Barites are very well-crystallized, have a pleasant yellow color, and they completely cover the Stibnite. This thumb has a lot going for it. 2 x .8 x .5 cm
This specimen features stibnite crystals which later became coated by colorless, lustrous fluorite. This find, a one time occurrence in the late 1980’s (around 1988 if i recall), is responsible for some of the most unusual fluorites ever found. There was one dealer with one table of them at one of the small hotel shows in Tucson of that year, and I know from talking to people who were there at the short feeding frenxy that for size and overall quality, this is one of the better pieces by far: Most specimens were not nearly so 3-dimensaional or dramatic in display, and the size of the fingers here is near the maximum found. The largest crystals reach 4 cm in length with the included stibnite being easily visible through the fluorite without need for strong lighting (not always the case from the pocket!). It has very minimal damage, absolutely trivial, and is complete around the periphery too, except at the very base which points down anyhow. The one time occurrence, the combination of stibnite and fluorite, along with the specimen’s aesthetic arrangement, make this piece incredibly spectacular. 13 x 11 x 9.1 cm
