6.6 x 3.5 x 1.6 cm. A very gemmy crystal of pale yellow-green spodumene from Afghanistan, of good size. It has a super termination, and is complete all around, with just a little wear where the side faces meet. Weighs 74 grams.
8.9 x 3.2 x 1.6 cm. This crystal is actually more interesting than your usual kunzite, in that a section of it is actually colorless spodumene (vs. pink spodumene or kunzite), so it is bi-colored or zoned. The top of the crystal is complete, and it has a fine termination. The crystal has fine deep lilac color in its bottom part. A sizeable crystal, weighing 88 grams.
53.4 x 12.2 x 8.6 cm. Perhaps one of the world's largest crystals for this spodumene varietal! It is complete all around, and with remarkably little etching effects given the size of the crystal. It is nearly entirely gemmy, especially in the center. The tip just glows with purple and maroon hues, with any kind of good lighting, especially when light comes down the c-axis. For the sharp termination, this would be major anyhow, even if it were small, but in this size, it’s literally a museum piece and among the most impressive examples of this species. Weight 29.4 pounds.
5.5 x 3.0 x 1.3 cm. A really cute Pech, Afghanistan combination specimen. A 3.1 cm, very gemmy and lustrous, pink and green tourmaline crystal, with a colorless termination, is aesthetically set on the side of a water-clear, well-striated, colorless spodumene crystal. The complete all-around spodumene has a textbook chisel termination, with two of the side faces being attractively frosted. A trivial bit of contacting at the base of the spodumene is certainly not a detraction or is barely noticeable. Ex. Laura Thompson collection.
13.8 x 3.1 x 1.1 cm. A large, complete and doubly-terminated crystal of kunzite from Afghanistan, of impressive size and fine lilac color! This crystal weighs 128 grams, and as you can see, has impressive height and "presence" when displayed vertically. Viewed from the side you can see the extreme gemminess of its interior. The bottom termination appears to be healed following a natural break.
4.2 x 0.9 x 0.9 cm. A gem crystal of kunzite not from Afghanistan but from BRAZIL, with a distinctively different square form. Definitely terminated on one end and probably both, though because of the way these terminations are naturally jagged it is really difficult to tell. VERY transparent and gemmy, with good lilac color. Weighs 10 grams.
9.2 x 7.3 x 7.0 cm. A STRIKING and AESTHETIC Afghanistan combination specimen. A GORGEOUS, 8.2 cm, GEM, lilac kunzite crystal with beautiful striations and a sharp termination is partially encased in a large, snow-white albite crystal and bladed cleavelandite. The gemminess, lilac color saturation and super striations make these kunzites modern day classics.
8.2 x 2.4 x 2.2 cm. Just a terrific kunzite crystal, for color, form, and condition. It is DOUBLY-TERMINATED, with a wonderful sharp chisel termination on top. It is EXTREMELY gemmy all the way through the center. Two of the faces have pretty striations, one is frosty, and one is GLASSY! Impressive size and weight for a fine crystal, at 106 grams.
11 x 2.7 x 1.7 cm. A very nice long and slender crystal of light pink gemmy Kunzite. The crystal has excellent luster and a nice, partially etched main termination. Good representative piece for the famous locality. Ex. Charlie Key.
10.8 x 4.7 x 4.1 cm. This is a great classic Brazilian Kunzite specimen showing delightful hydrothermal etching on all sides. The piece is essentially a floater, as I cannot find any point of attachment. It has a lovely pink color and is nearly 100% gem quality, although it is very difficult to illustrate this in the photos. The piece has a small etched "hole" in the middle where you can see right through to the other side. Ex. Richard Kosnar Collection.
10.7 x 6.6 x 3.5 cm. This particular crystal is a rather thick and robust crystal with bright purplish-pink color. For a crystal of this thickness, it is amazingly gemmy and complete all the way around. Honestly, the crystal is more than 90% gem quality and shows a VIBRANT pink color when viewed down the c axis. The crystal is rather lustrous as well, at not at all dull or pitted like many can be. Ex. Norm and Roz Pellman and Richard Kosnar Collections.
14.8 x 5.3 x 2.2 cm. This large, superb crystal of kunzite weighs just under 400 grams. The most obvious quality of the crystal is its INTENSE lilac color. Kunzites can be washed out and pale, even nearly colorless, but this one is truly saturated with color. Secondly, this is a COMPLETE, floater crystal, with both terminations. The crystal has a silky surface (from vertical striations) and a gemmy interior.
12.5 x 6.3 x 2.8 cm. This is a huge, 410-gram crystal of spodumene that is so glass-gemmy in the center; you could cut a dozen large, fine stones from it. But we hope that will not happen to it, because this is such a fine collector gem crystal specimen. It is complete all around and doubly-terminated (a floater). The vertically-striated faces have a nice glassy luster. The crystal has a beautiful lemon-lime color, as well.
5.2 x 3.4 x 2.4 cm. A chunky, 77-gram crystal of kunzite, showing fine, rich lilac color. It has a sharp termination, with one conchoidal contact on the front side, but the majority of the contact is on the back, so you have a very nice display face. The interior is VERY gemmy. From the collection of noted California collector Charles Hansen.
5.4 x 4.9 x 2.9 cm. This is the light golden-yellow-green spodumene variety known as triphane. Weighs 133 grams. Ex. Norm Dawson Collection.
