This specimen features a fine, gemmy rich orange red color modified dodecahedron measuring 8 mm on schist matrix. Very good color on this one. 4.0 x 2.2 x 1.8cm
A STRIKING and DRAMATIC CABINET Pakistan combination piece. Gemmy and lustrous, etched aquamarine crystals to 9.0 cm rest amongst gemmy and lustrous spessartine garnets to 1.8 cm, lustrous schorl crystals, and lustrus muscovite books on albite matrix. The vertical aqua crystals and capping large spessartine and schorl really make this a beautiful piece. Extremely trivial damage overall, and complex aesthetics, make this a unique piece for the collector of alpine minerals from this part of the world. 12.7 x 10.0 x 5.5 cm
An absolutely TEXTBOOK crystal (0.7 cm) of spessartine, isolated on matrix - this is an OLD Colorado specimen and hard to obtain! Gary hansen collection 4.6 x 4.3 x 1.5cm
Incredibly lustrous and large (2 cm across), fine crystal for the locality!!! 2.8 x 2.7 x 1.9 cm
A BIG specimen featuring deep wine-red garnets up to 1.5 cm, with gemmy quartz crystals, in a bed of muscovite. The coolest thing about this specimen is the garnet crystal clearly visible INSIDE the gemmy quartz! 18.8 x 12.2 x 7.3cm
A superb 1.5-cm crystal of spessartine is the star of this plate of garnets and small smokies, from China. Note the pretty striations on the faces of the big spessartine garnet! 7.0 x 4.5 x 2.1cm
Over the last few years, there have been many fine Spessartine Garnet specimens to come from China. This specimen is a great cabinet size piece and the crystals are very large with deep color for this locality! This specimen features dozens of razor sharp, highly lustrous, deep reddish-orange, textbook trapezohedra on matrix. This piece has some of the best quality, and deep Spessartine crystals that I have seen from Tongbei, so dont miss out on this one. 13.0 x 8.5 x 5.0cm
These new Spessartines are some of the most attractive and highly displayable specimens to come out of China in the last few years. This particular piece features several sharp, lustrous, gemmy, red trapezohedra with dodecahedral modifications measuring up to 7 mm associated with a few Smoky Quartz crystals and some books of Muscovite on Feldspar. The color in these crystals is about as red as I''ve seen for crystals this size. This material is becoming less and less available on the market. 9.0 x 6.4 x 3.4 cm
A showy and excellent quartz column covered with lustrous, deep cherry-red spessartine garnets to 9 mm and lustrous, flattened schorl crystals from the famous Audrey Lynn Claims of California. The quartz is trying to become a crystal, as some sides have sharp faces. Spessartine is RARE from the Audrey Lynn Claims and this is a fine combo piece. Collected by Tim Sherburn in February, 1995 and ex Chris Korpi Collection. 3.5 x 1.9 x 1.8 cm
A BIG plate richly covered with gemmy wine-red spessartine garnets, along with a few smoky quartzes and muscovite books. The lustrous garnets measure up to about 0.6 cm. You may have noticed that we have not had many spessartine specimens lately, as the prices have gone up to where they do not seem all that reasonable for what you get. But this very large plate was priced decently enough that we decided to buy it to offer here. . . . 18 x 13 x 4.2 cm
GORGEOUS, super gemmy, orange spessartine garnet crystals on matrix with UNCOMMON, transparent, octohedral, green fluorite crystals with purple corners from Tongbei, China. A couple of muscovite books give a nice accent. Not many of these spessartine/fluorite combo pieces have come out from Tongbei. The back has been sawed to enhance display. 7.0 x 3.5 x 2.2 cm
A BEAUTIFUL specimen of VERY GEMMY, striated, red-orange spessartine garnet crystals to 1.0 cm aesthetically set on contrasting white albite from recent finds at Tongbei, China. A few scattered quartz crystals add a nice accent. 6.2 x 6.0 x 3.7 cm
A wonderfully lustrous 1.1-cm garnet, isolated on contrasting white orthoclase. 6.2 x 3.5 x 3.0 cm
An AESTHETIC and UNCOMMON combination CABINET plate from the Tongbei Area of China. Very gemmy and lustrous orange spessartine garnets to 6 mm richly cover matrix along with lustrous, smoky quartz crystals and one, frosted, very light green fluorite octohedron. A couple of broken smoky crystals are barely noticeable and are certainly not detracting. Very few of these spessartine/fluorite combo pieces have come from Tongbei. The back and one side has been sawed to enhance display. 10.9 x 5.4 x 2.8 cm
A huge plate of super-gemmy, sparkling spessartine garnets!! This plate is just COVERED with these little gems, and here and there a smoky quartz crystal pokes up amongst them. We have slowed our buying of these because the prices have been rising - but now and then purchase one to put in the auction when we see a decent price, just so everyone has a chance to get one before the mining stops, since they are truly fabulous garnet specimens. This one is a big, flashy showpiece to be sure! 19.7 x 12.2 x 4.3 cm
