Bright, gemmy and lustrous spessartines to 3 mm interspersed with smoky points. There is one little ding on a quartz tip. 3.1 x 4.9 x 2.9 cm
A plate of super gemmy and lustrous spessartine garnets, incredibly bright and flashy, to 0.5 cm. The matrix shows in places to provide a nice contrast. 8.6 x 4.9 x 3.2 cm
BIG, lustrous spessartines, surrounded by small, gemmy, lighter-colored ones, on a stark white contrasting matrix of feldspar. The individual crystals measure up to 1 cm, and the central cluster of three intergrown crystals measures 1.5 cm across. 7.3 x 6.1 x 3.3 cm
Check out the amazing stepped growth on these two intergrown, translucent spessartines! Some contact on the back; the display face is undamaged. 4 x 2 x 1.6 cm
A plate of fine wall-to-wall spessartine garnet crystals, lustrous and gemmy, measuring to 0.8 cm across. 5.7 x 4.7 x 1.5 cm
An aesthetic specimen of sharp, lustrous, dark wine-red spessartine crystals to 1.5 cm on nicely contrasting matrix from a very uncommon California locality, the Lakeview Prospect in Riverside County. A trivial termination bruise on the large crystal and minor periphery damage is certainly not detracting. Ex Tim Sherburn Collection. 3.9 x 3.0 x 2.6 cm
A fine WHOPPER (2-cm) spessartine garnet, with sharp faces and superb luster, plunked down right in the center of the matrix, next to a partial quartz crystal. Good spessartines this size are really exceptional! You are accustomed to seeing a good supply of spessartines from CHina, but they are a mere fraction of this size. A book of muscovite provides a backdrop for the crystal. 6.8 x 6.1 x 5.2 cm
Lustrous, sharp, wine-colored spessartines, relatively large (to 0.8 cm), piled up in a beautiful cluster. 8.5 x 5.3 x 2.3cm
This is a piece better in person, where with backlighting you can see that the super-sharp garnet here is a GEM crystal of absolute perfection and transparency. It measures about 1.3 cm across. STELLAR THUMBNAIL! 2.1 x 1.7 x 1 cm
Bright, lustrous spessartine garnets interspersed with smoky quartz points, with matrix showing through to provide contrast. Pretty! 7.0 x 5.7 x 3.8cm
Many of the spessartine specimens that come from Tongbei are just wall-to-wall crystals, but the prettier ones have isolated crystals, and sometimes, they are on EUHEDRAL crystals of feldspar, as with this one, making the specimen particularly attractive. This is a BIG, SHOWY specimen! 16.2 x 14.1 x 4.9cm
An EXCELLENT and AESTHETIC plate covered with gemmy, lustrous, dark cherry-red spessartine garnet crystals to 1.2 cm on matrix from the recent finds in China. This very showy specimen is essentially pristine. 8.9 x 5.8 x 3.5 cm
Gemmy orange-red spessartines sprinkled over a matrix of contrasting stark white euhedral feldspar, with smoky quartz points adding a nice accent. 5.1 x 4.7 x 3.6cm
A BIG plate of GEMMY, orange-red spessartine garnet crystals, richly covering the surface in two generations which make it particularly attractive: an earlier generation of very small crystals, and a later one of big, gleaming ones to 0.6 cm. Quite a showpiece, big and flashy! 9.8 x 9.6 x 3.8cm
Sharp, lustrous spessartines to 0.8 cm, nicely isolated on the contrasting matrix. 9.2 x 4.3 x 2.3cm
